The poll shows Trump leading Biden 43-38 while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis trails Biden in a hypothetical ⁢matchup 37-34.

The poll did not produce good results for the Biden White House. Sixty-seven percent‍ of respondents said the country was on the wrong track under Biden’s⁢ leadership. In addition, 51% of‍ registered voters polled⁢ described‍ Biden’s economy as poor. ⁤

That is particularly ⁣bad news ‌for the‌ 46th president⁣ as the economy ⁢was the⁤ number one issue for ⁣the ⁢2024 ⁢election, according to Premise‌ Data, with 26% of registered ‌voters picking the economy.

Trump ⁤dominated the⁢ poll when it came to securing the Republican nomination as⁢ well, with 60% of registered voters ⁤saying the‌ 45th president should be the nominee in 2024.

DeSantis came in second with 16% of the vote, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in third with 6%, former Vice President Mike Pence with ⁣4%, and Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and former South Carolina⁤ Governor ⁤Nikki Haley at 3%.

This new poll comes on the eve of the first GOP presidential debate ⁢that ‌will not include Trump.

Trump has opted to sit for ⁣an exclusive interview⁣ with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson as counterprogramming. Trump also announced he will be going to⁢ Atlanta, Georgia Thursday, a day after the debate, to surrender.

“Can you believe it? I’ll be going to‍ Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday ‌to be ARRESTED by a Radical Left‍ District ‌Attorney, Fani Willis, who is overseeing one of the greatest Murder and Violent‌ Crime DISASTERS in American History,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. ⁤“In my case, the trip to Atlanta is not for “Murder,” ‍but for ⁣making a PERFECT PHONE CALL! She campaigned, and is ‌continuing to campaign, and raise ⁣money on, this WITCH HUNT.⁤ This is in strict coordination⁤ with Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ. It is all ⁤about ELECTION INTERFERENCE!”

Trump maintains a 5% lead over Biden in recent national poll.

Trump has shown polling strength in early ⁣nominating states as well. In Iowa, the 45th ‍ president led the field by 23%‍ in the new Des Moines Register poll.
