Empty, fearful positivity won’t solve anything
Happy Talk: A Dangerous Game
Happy talk is not just harmless chatter. In fact, it can have deadly consequences. It leads people to believe in foolish notions and blinds leaders to the harsh realities of the world. When it comes to national security, we need leaders who can make tough decisions based on cold, hard facts.
Unfortunately, politics often attracts those with starry-eyed visions or those who hide their own cowardice behind such visions. And it seems that President Biden may be falling into this trap.
Wavering in the Face of Conflict
As Israel battles against Hamas, Biden’s resolve appears to be wavering. While he initially expressed support for Israel’s mission to remove Hamas and minimize civilian casualties, he is now being influenced by radical left-wing media and inexperienced staffers.
Recently, Biden tweeted, “Hamas unleashed a terrorist attack because they fear nothing more than Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace. To continue down the path of terror, violence, killing, and war is to give Hamas what they seek. We can’t do that.”
Hamas unleashed a terrorist attack because they fear nothing more than Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace.
To continue down the path of terror, violence, killing, and war is to give Hamas what they seek.
We can’t do that.
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) November 28, 2023
But what does Biden really mean by this tweet? It seems to create a paradox. On one hand, he claims we can’t give Hamas what they want, which is more violence. On the other hand, it takes military action to defeat Hamas. So is Biden suggesting that we leave Hamas in place in order to defeat them? Or is he setting unrealistic expectations for the military, considering Hamas deliberately hides among civilians?
Regardless of his intentions, Biden’s rhetoric is undermining Israel’s war effort. He is falling prey to the propaganda of the legacy media, which promotes the false claims that Hamas isn’t as bad as it seems, that Israel is equally to blame, that Israel should make concessions to the Palestinian Authority, and that Biden’s political future depends on believing these claims.
The Distortion of Truth
The media’s attempt to downplay Hamas’ evil is astonishing. They are rewriting Hamas as a mere political protest group, ignoring their acts of terrorism and violence. They spread lies and obfuscate the truth to create a false narrative.
Furthermore, the media often suggests that Israel is morally equivalent to Hamas, accusing them of indiscriminate bombing and excessive force. This is a gross distortion of reality. Israel takes extensive measures to protect civilians, providing warnings and using precision strikes. They are more careful than any army in history, yet they are dealing with a terrorist group that deliberately hides among civilians.
The media’s moral equivalence only serves to grant Hamas immunity for their despicable tactics. This sets a dangerous precedent for future terrorist groups.
In a recent interview, former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was asked if killing members of Hamas would create new members. He rightly pointed out that if that were the case, no war could ever be won. It’s not about the immediate outcome, but about what comes next.
In the face of this conflict, we need leaders who can see through the happy talk and make tough, informed decisions. It’s time for Biden to show true resolve and stand firmly with Israel against Hamas.
Engaging Paraphrase:
During the war, countless innocent civilians lost their lives, but Germany managed to undergo denazification and emerge as a new nation.
However, the Biden administration seems to be falling for a blatant trick. John Kirby from the Pentagon stated, “It puts an even greater burden on Israel to ensure that as they plan for operations in the south, they take into account the additional innocent lives now in south Gaza.”
According to the Wall Street Journal, “The U.S. is urging Israel to fight a more targeted war, signaling a shift from President Biden’s initial full support for the campaign against Hamas. Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are engaged in intense consultations on how to handle the conflict.”
If the U.S. possesses a hidden magic wand, Israel would eagerly listen. However, for now, these empty words only lend credibility to Hamas’ false accusations against Israel.
Then there’s the argument that Israel should make concessions to the Palestinian Authority in order to weaken Hamas.
This claim comes from Thomas Friedman, a foreign policy columnist for the New York Times, who has always supported Israeli concessions. In a recent article, he writes, “A reformed Palestinian Authority is crucial for promoting moderation, coexistence, and a two-state solution… The Palestinian Authority has been committed to a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders since the Oslo Accords.”
Believing this requires a certain level of naivety. The Palestinian Authority has always viewed the Oslo Accords as a deceptive strategy. Yassar Arafat even stated in 1994 that the agreement was no more significant than a pact between Prophet Muhammad and Quraish, which ultimately led to the slaughter of the Quraish tribe. Arafat increased terrorist activities after Oslo, and his successors followed suit.
The Palestinian Authority has never genuinely pursued a two-state solution. It is a terrorist group, and concessions to terrorists only breed more terrorism. Yet the Biden administration continues to believe that the PA can somehow counter Islamic extremism.
Every day, the Palestinian population, radicalized over generations, proves this notion wrong. Polling data shows that the majority of Palestinians do not desire peace with Israel; they support Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. In fact, the Palestinian Authority only has the support of approximately 10% of the population, which is roughly the same level of support as the biased Western media.
There is even video evidence of Palestinians mocking Israeli hostages, including children and elderly women, as they are released.
‘Innocent Gazan’ civilians again. People with such a clear line between them and Hamas, obviously. Bravely taunting & jeering elderly Jewish women. pic.twitter.com/CDNYBmK69C

So, the solution is apparently more Israeli concessions, like handing over the entire Gaza Strip to Hamas. We all know how well that turned out last time.
Lastly, there’s the false claim that Biden’s electoral troubles are solely due to Israel’s efforts to eliminate Hamas.
This is nothing but a lie. There is no evidence to suggest that the Gaza War is the cause of Biden’s declining popularity. His approval ratings have remained relatively stable. The media, however, is pushing the narrative that if Biden doesn’t give in to Hamas, he will lose the support of the youth vote. They highlight incidents like the reaction of citizens in Oakland, who protested when the city council considered condemning Hamas.
Last night the Oakland City Council voted on a resolution to call for a ceasefire.

— Yashar Ali 🐘 (@yashar) Harvard Harris Poll, as explained in the Wall Street Journal, “Roughly half of Americans 18 to 24 years old think Hamas’s October attack was justified by grievances of the Palestinians. Just 9% of people aged 65 and older feel the same.” According to the media, this is the real danger to Biden’s 2024 efforts.
This is, once again, ridiculous. Biden will either be running against Donald Trump — the most pro-Israel president in American history — or Ron DeSantis or Nikki Haley — the most pro-Israel candidates in American history. Are all these Hamas-lovers going to stay home and watch one of those three be elected? What’s more, those 65 and older vote far more than those aged 18-24. So an incremental gain among those voters would likely be outweighed by an incremental loss among older voters.
But the media have their story. And they’re pushing it.
In any case, Israel isn’t stopping. They can’t. The IDF spokesperson explained:
Where this is going forward from here, is that we are ready, and as soon as we will get the green light from the government of the State of Israel to continue operations we will do so because we understand that there is a direct link between ground operations and pressure on Hamas and their willingness to hand over the hostages. And we are ready and equipped to do so. And I hope that that will commence as soon as possible. Every day that Israeli hostages are returned is great. But we are preparing for the next stage of operations. And we have our site firmly focused on the aim, to dismantle Hamas to make sure that never again will any terrorist organization in Gaza have the ability to do what Hamas did on October the seventh.
That’s exactly correct.
Israel can’t stop. They’ll either do it alone, or they’ll do it with Western help. So what does it matter if the West backs Israel?
It certainly means one thing above all others: a West perceived as a weak, cowardly horse is a West ripe for the taking.
And a happy-talking West is a weak West.
