Submarine with two bodies and three tons of cocaine seized near Colombia

Two bodies and three tons of cocaine were found on board a submarine that was taken into the Pacific Ocean, near Colombia’s coast.

Officials estimate that the submarine measured approximately 50 feet long and carried nearly 5,800 pounds cocaine. The value of the drug was more than $87million. The submarine had been seized with more than 6,000,000 doses of cocaine.

The announcement by the navy stated that two more survivors had been found in addition to the one they found. “poor health” Who were first treated.  

“These people’s poor health state is presumably due to the inhalation of toxic fumes caused by fuel problems inside the boat,” Captain Cristian Andres Guzmanecheverry spoke.

Together with the two men who had been rescued, the findings were taken to Tumaco “where they were presented to the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General’s Office.”

The Colombian Ministry of National Defense issued a statement regarding the incident.

“Apparently, there was an accident inside the semi-submersible due to the generation of toxic gases from the fuel,” The statement was read. “The two men were treated and transported to a nearby vessel, where they were given the necessary medical attention to safeguard their lives.”

This submarine was one of three recently seized by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, (FARC).

FARC, a Marxist guerrilla organization that tried to overthrow government between 1964-2017, is known as FARC. The group was involved in drug trafficking and kidnappings to finance their efforts.

They also created narcosubmarines, which can travel partially submerged to avoid radars or other surveillance equipment. These submarines can also be fully submerged and transport more than 10 tonnes of drugs to Central America.

After the seizure, both the Navy and Ministry of National Defense stated that they are committed. “cracking down on any narco vessels” It is the country.

“The Colombian Navy will continue deploying all its capabilities to counter the scourge of drug trafficking structures that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific,” According to the agency.
