‘Succession’ star Brian Cox gets into character at final season premiere

At the premiere of the fourth and final season of the HBO family drama ‘Succession’, Scottish actor Brian Cox, star of the show, briefly transformed into Logan Roy, his domineering patriarchal persona from the series. Logan’s four children vie for control of the family’s vast media holdings, and the upcoming season will unleash even more power struggles and divisions as Logan edges closer to selling his company to tech mogul Lukas Matsson. Despite comparisons to Rupert Murdoch’s empire, the creators of the show insist it is based on no particular family. ‘Succession’ has won numerous accolades and critical acclaim for its writing and actors since its premiere in 2018.

“We’re going to see a lot of fascinating rides and it’s a bit like a roller coaster,” Cox told Reuters at the New York premiere. “I think it’s… finishing in the true ‘Succession’ style… I think people are going to love it… A lot of American shows go on well past their sell-by date. That would never happen to our show.”

Season four will feature stars such as Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook and Alan Ruck.

Creator Jesse Armstrong expressed his sadness at ending the show but insists it’s the right decision creatively.
