Sunny Hostin predicts Trump may face jail time for just six months
Sunny Hostin from The View discussed the likelihood of Trump facing jail time for six months post-conviction. Sunny Hostin of The View analyzed the possibility of Trump serving a six-month jail term after conviction. She and her co-hosts delved into public sentiment, revealing that 74% of Americans believe Trump should face consequences if found guilty. The sentencing is scheduled for July 11.
The View’s Sunny Hostin said on Monday that there’s a “good chance” former President Donald Trump could go to jail for “just six months.”
Hostin and her co-hosts speculated about the polling and prospects of Trump being sentenced to house arrest or jail time for possibly “six months” following his conviction in the criminal case in New York.
“We were looking at the stats before, and something like 74% of Americans said if there is a conviction, not only do they want him to go to jail, but they want him, like, under the jail, and they want him to pay the consequences. Seventy-four percent of Americans,” co-host Sunny Hostin said.
She continued, “July 11 is the sentencing, right? They’re talking home arrest and possibly putting him in jail.”
“People do get sentenced and put in jail prior to the appeal. If not, the Innocence Project wouldn’t even exist. There is a very good chance I think he will go to jail even if it’s just for six months,” she explained.
The View audience applauded when she gave the possible sentence for jail time. Hostin smiled and nodded toward the audience.
“Yes. Six months,” she repeated to the audience.
In an interview on Fox & Friends Weekend on Sunday, the former president suggested that the public would be upset if he received jail time.
“I don’t know that the public would stand it, you know? I don’t — I’m not sure the public would stand for it,” he said to the Fox hosts. “I think it’d be tough for the public to take. You know, at a certain point, there’s a breaking point.”
Hostin said that people “should take his words very seriously.”

“When you have a defendant saying something like, ‘the people wouldn’t stand for it,’ that’s what happened Jan. 6,” she said.” ‘So be very clear — be very clear-headed. Listen to what he is saying the first time. That was a dog whistle to his followers. Put me in jail, and y’all show up.”
Last week, co-host Whoopi Goldberg said she wanted Trump to get six months in jail. Hostin had said that she heard it may be recommended that Trump could receive one year in prison and it could be at Rikers Island.
