Sunny Hostin suggests that cicadas, a solar eclipse, and an earthquake may be linked to ‘climate change.

Sunny Hostin from The View analyzed recent ‍natural events, including⁤ the earthquake in New Jersey and New York, the upcoming emergence of billions of cicadas, and Monday’s solar eclipse,‌ speculating about their possible connection to climate change. The discussion, which started with Alyssa Farah Griffin’s Monday joke about the earthquake, highlighted these phenomena as potential indicators of ‍environmental ⁤shifts.

The View’s Sunny Hostin analyzed the latest natural events of the Friday earthquake shaking New Jersey and New York, the unusual double brood of billions of cicadas coming in a few weeks, and Monday’s solar eclipse as possible signs of climate change.

The discussion began with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin joking on Monday about the earthquake late last week.

“So, what’s kind of crazy is with the earthquake on Friday and then the eclipse today, people are having all sorts of conspiracies about the end of the world. And then I read online that the earthquake epicenter was actually at Bedminster in New Jersey,” she said, adding with a dig at her former boss, former President Donald Trump. “Fun fact. So it originated with Trump.”

The View hosts laughed, and Hostin chimed in that the earthquake had her makeup artist ready to leave the building.

“I have to say, Karen Dupiche, our wonderful makeup artist, when the earthquake was happening, she put her coat on, and she was like, ‘Jesus is coming. I’m out. I’m leaving. We got a solar eclipse. We got the earthquake,’” Hostin said.

“She ran down the hallway,” co-host Sarah Haines quipped.

“The rapture is here,” Farah Griffin joked.

“The rapture is here,” Hostin added. “And then, also, I learned that the cicadas are coming.”

The View hosts debated about their knowledge of the frequency of cicadas. Hostin then concluded that climate change or “something” is happening.

“All those things together would maybe lead one to believe that either climate change exists or something is really going on,” Hostin said.

Behar responded in agreement: “That’s more on point.”

“Or Jesus is returning,” Farah Griffin joked again.

Behar then made a distinction between the earthquakes and climate change.

“Except earthquakes are not at the mercy of climate change,” she said to Hostin. “It’s underground. It can’t.”

“How about the warming of the planet?” Hostin asked.

“No, it happens,” Whoopi Goldberg explained. “And the eclipse, they’ve known about the eclipse coming because eclipses happen and they actually can say when these things are going to happen.”
