Gigi Hadid, famous supermodel, detained in Cayman Islands.
Supermodel Gigi Hadid Arrested for Marijuana Possession in the Cayman Islands
Supermodel Gigi Hadid found herself in a legal predicament during her summer vacation in the Cayman Islands. On July 10, the 28-year-old model was arrested for possession of marijuana. However, this incident didn’t dampen her spirits as she continued to enjoy her tropical getaway.
Hadid and her friends arrived at Owen Roberts International Airport via a private plane, ready for a fun-filled vacation. Little did they know that their suitcases would raise suspicions at customs. According to the Cayman Marl Road, authorities discovered “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in their luggage.
Following the discovery, Hadid was arrested on charges of suspicion of importing ganja and importing utensils for its consumption. She and her friend were then taken to a Prisoner Detention Center. However, they were later released on bail.

On July 12, Hadid and her friend appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the charges. They were both fined $1,000. However, a representative for the supermodel clarified that the marijuana was legally purchased in NYC with a medical license.
Interestingly, medical marijuana has been legal in Grand Cayman since 2017. However, it is still prohibited to enter or exit the country with marijuana, even with a prescription. Limited usage of CBD oil for medical purposes has been allowed since 2016, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Despite the legal hiccup, Hadid didn’t let it ruin her vacation. She continued to share stunning photos of her tropical getaway on Instagram, showcasing her resilience. In one of her posts, she captioned the pictures, ”All’s well that ends well.”
