Backing Palestinian Authority Governance in Gaza would be a fatal error.

As Israel obliterates Hamas, ‌the conversation ⁣about future governance in Gaza has already begun.

President‌ Biden, ⁢in a recent ‍interview on “60⁤ Minutes,” emphasized⁣ the importance of a Palestinian Authority and⁢ a path to a ⁤Palestinian ⁣state in Gaza.

In a captivating Fox⁣ News interview, former CIA Director‌ and ‌retired Gen. David Petraeus provided more insight. He ‌suggested that once Hamas is ⁢dismantled, ⁤another Palestinian ‍group, such as the Palestine Liberation Organization-dominated Palestinian Authority, could take charge of governing Gaza.

However,⁤ supporting the Palestinian Authority’s governance ⁤in Gaza would be a grave mistake.

For nearly three decades, the Palestinian Authority has ruled parts of the West Bank⁢ and previously‍ governed parts of Gaza before being replaced by Hamas in 2006. While the ‌Palestinian Authority may employ different tactics than Hamas, the outcome remains the same: ⁢the murder of Jews.

Publicly, the Palestinian Authority tries to distance itself from Hamas. However, their official news agency, WAFA, initially acknowledged that⁣ Hamas’ ⁢actions do not represent the Palestinian people. Yet,‌ they later revised the ⁢statement to⁢ remove any‌ mention ⁣of Hamas ⁤and⁢ its actions.

Furthermore, the⁤ Palestinian Authority has openly supported the families of Hamas⁢ terrorists by promising to provide them with millions of dollars,⁤ demonstrating their endorsement of the murder of Jews.

A History of Murder: The Palestinian Authority

This is not a new phenomenon for the Palestinian⁣ Authority. They have been involved in the killing of Jews for decades.

In ⁢1993, the Oslo Accord was ⁣signed between the PLO and Israel, aiming to bring ⁤peace between the two parties. The creation of the Palestinian Authority was ⁣intended⁢ to prevent terrorism and foster peace.‌ However, instead of pursuing peace, the Palestinian Authority and⁢ the dominant⁢ PLO have incited, funded, and rewarded numerous terrorist attacks against Jews and Israelis.

From 1993-1999, there were over 90 terrorist attacks, and ⁢in 2000, the‍ Palestinian ⁢Authority launched the second intifada, resulting in‍ the deaths of over 1,100 Israelis. Even after the second ‍intifada ended, terrorism facilitated by the⁣ Palestinian ‍Authority continued, with ‍over⁣ 200 attacks since⁢ 2006.

A significant tool used by the‍ Palestinian Authority to encourage terrorism is their “pay-for-slay” policy, where they provide financial support to⁣ the families⁤ of terrorists, with larger payments⁤ for more‌ deadly attacks.

Despite efforts by the‌ previous administration to address this issue, the Biden administration‍ has reversed ‌course and resumed funding programs ⁢that indirectly support terrorism. This ‍policy mistake further enables the Palestinian Authority’s facilitation of terrorism. It would‌ be a grave error to support their governance in Gaza.

‌ How‌ has the Palestinian Authority failed to uphold its commitments⁤ to peace agreements with Israel, and what impact does this have on the potential for a peaceful resolution to the⁣ conflict?

Ovide financial assistance to them. This not⁤ only demonstrates their support for Hamas but also their disregard for⁤ the lives of innocent Israelis who have lost their lives due to these terrorist acts. It is clear that the Palestinian Authority is not ‍a responsible or reliable governing body that can ensure the safety and security of the people‍ in Gaza.

Additionally, the Palestinian Authority has consistently failed to uphold its ⁣commitments to peace agreements with Israel. They have shown a⁢ lack of willingness to engage in meaningful negotiations and‍ have continued to incite violence against Israelis. Their refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and their constant glorification of terrorists⁤ only⁤ further undermine any potential for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Supporting the Palestinian Authority’s governance in Gaza‌ would only perpetuate the cycle of violence and hatred. It would be sending⁢ a message that terrorism and violence are acceptable means of achieving political goals. This would also undermine the efforts of those within the Palestinian society who genuinely seek peace and coexistence with Israel.

Instead of propping up the Palestinian Authority, the international community should focus on⁣ supporting organizations and individuals who are advocating for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This includes civil society organizations, human ⁢rights⁢ activists, and political leaders who are committed to peaceful negotiations and a two-state solution.

Furthermore, any future governance in Gaza must⁣ also include the voices and perspectives of the people who‍ live there. The opinions and aspirations of ordinary Palestinians cannot be ignored or dismissed. Any solution must take into account their needs and desires for a better future.

In⁢ conclusion, while⁣ the conversation about future governance in Gaza⁢ is an important one, supporting the Palestinian Authority as the governing body would be a grave⁢ mistake. Their track record of supporting⁣ terrorism, inciting violence, and failing to uphold ‌peace ‍agreements makes them an unreliable and irresponsible choice.⁢ The international community should instead focus on supporting peaceful efforts and the voices of the Palestinian people themselves in order to bring about a just and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
