Texas police have apprehended a man in connection with the abduction of a 12-year-old girl who was missing for eight days before she was found unharmed.
After attempting to evade the police on Friday, Sirterryon Preston, a resident of Houston, has been charged with evading authorities, as announced by the Columbus Police Department on social media on Saturday.
The girl was last seen entering a pickup truck in the city on February 22nd, and the Houston Police Department issued an alert to the public regarding her whereabouts, according to news reports.
On Friday around 12:40 p.m., authorities discovered that the 12-year-old girl, who was the subject of an Amber Alert, had been found in Columbus, approximately 94 miles west of Houston.
Once the girl’s identity was confirmed, she was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston for evaluation.
Preston is currently being held in the Colorado County jail while the FBI conducts an investigation, as stated by Columbus police.
There is a possibility of additional charges being filed against him.
