A Chicago man has been faced with murder charges in connection with a deadly shooting during last month’s Puerto Rican Day festivities in the city. 34-year-old Anthony Lorenzi was arrested over the weekend in San Diego, California after surveillance video led authorities to his location.
Lorenzi stands accused of gunning down Gyovanni Arzuaga after a minor traffic collision. The incident was caught on camera and showed a group of people attacking Arzuaga and his girlfriend Yasmin Perez in their vehicle.

Police alleged Lorenzi shot Arzuaga multiple times. Investigators later found that Perez may have been accidentally shot by her boyfriend after police found a handgun under his body.
Chicago Police Supt. David Brown went on to say, “I hope this arrest brings at least some measure of relief to the families of this young couple who left behind two small children.”
Lorenzi has an extensive criminal background, which includes 26 felony arrests and seven convictions. He’s awaiting extradition to Chicago as authorities are trying to determine a motive in the attack.
