Suspect in Custody for Quadruple Homicide in Idaho Students

MOSCOW, Idaho – Authorities have a suspect in custody in the Nov. 13 murders of four University of Idaho Fox News Digital interviewed a senior source from law enforcement who spoke on behalf of students.

Local police and FBI took a man in his twenties into custody in Scranton (Pennsylvania), according to a law enforcement source.

The source said that the suspect is a college student, but that he does not go to University of Idaho. He was seen in court today.

Ethan Chapin (age 20), Xana Krumodle (20), Kaylee Gorcalves (21) and Madison Mogen (21) were stabbed to death In the early morning hours, in a nearby rental house.

Initial investigations were baffled and the small college town of only 25,000 was shaken by the mystery killings.

According to police and coroner, each of the four students was stabbed several times in the back.

Two female roommates who lived in the basement appeared to have survived the horrific attack.

Just before noon, the roommates called friends to the house, believing that one of their victims had fallen asleep on the second-floor.

Police responded at 11:58 am to a 911 report reporting that there was an unconscious person. The call came from one roommate’s phone.  Responding officers located the four victims who had been murdered on the second and the third floors.

Moscow Police Department provided a detailed timeline showing the movements of the victims during the hours immediately before and after the massacre. 

Mogen and Goncalves visited the Corner Club downtown before ordering food at the Grub Truck.

Chapin, Kernodle’s boyfriend went to a party at Sigma Chi on campus. They returned to King Road at 1:45 AM.

Moscow Police Department is working with FBI and Idaho State Police to confirm that the attacks were carried out. “targeted.”

Investigators have been focusing their efforts on the search for the occupants. 2011 to 2013 white Hyundai Elantra This was found near the house at the time of the murders.

Chapin was a freshman at Mount Vernon High School and a Sigma Chi member. According to the school, Chapin was studying recreation and sport management.

Chapin’s girlfriend Kernodle, a junior majoring as marketing and a Pi Beta Phi member, was originally from Avondale.

According to the university, Mogen was a senior in Coeur d’Alene who studied marketing. He was also a member Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Goncalves, a Rathdrum, Idaho native, was a senior majoring and being a member Alpha Phi sorority.

She was set to graduate in December, and she planned to move to Austin (Texas), where she had a job as a marketer. She also looked forward to a trip to Europe in the future.
