Suspected Michigan School Shooter’s Parents Allegedly Requested Friend Bring Them Vodka And Orange Juice While In Hiding

The parents of the teen suspected of shooting and killing four students and injuring several more at a Michigan high school last November reportedly asked a friend to bring them vodka and orange juice when they were in hiding.

The parents, who are not being identified by The Daily Wire so as not to identify their son per policy, reportedly made their odd request after their 15-year-old son was arrested and the couple went into hiding. The Detroit Free Press reported that prosecutors brought up the drink requests from the parents during their bond hearing while arguing to keep them in prison ahead of their trial.

As The Daily Wire previously reported, the suspect entered Oxford High School on November 30 and went on to shoot multiple students, killing four and injuring seven others, including a teacher. The suspect used a handgun that his parents had just bought him as an early Christmas present on Black Friday according to prosecutors.

The suspect’s parents were arrested after an active search, and face their own criminal charges.

Prosecutor Karen McDonald on successfully argued for a $500,000 bond for the shooting suspect’s parents, who she said left their home following the shooting, purchased four burner cell phones, withdrew all the money from their son’s bank account, and then spent a night in a hotel before hiding in an abandoned building in Detroit where they were later arrested. When found, they were reportedly crouched on a mattress with $6,600 in cash.

While hiding, the parents allegedly asked a friend to bring them vodka and orange juice, and only left the building to smoke and hid their car. An attorney for the parents said they fled their home because they had gotten death threats after their son was identified as the suspected shooter.

The Daily Wire reported that at least two lawsuits have been filed by survivors of the shooting, who are seeking $100 million each. Detroit’s WXYZ-TV reported:

The lawsuits have been filed by Attorney Geoffrey Fieger on behalf of a student who was shot in the neck and her sister, who was with her when she was shot.

On top of the district, those in the lawsuit include the district superintendent, the Oxford High School principal, dean of students, two counselors, two teachers and a staff member.

The Daily Wire previously reported that the alleged shooter likely had the handgun in his backpack during a meeting with teachers and parents just hours before the shooting:

McDonald told CNN on Thursday that there was a “very strong possibility” the suspect was already carrying the weapon during a meeting with his parents and school officials earlier in the day before the shooting.

“I think that it’s already been public that he did have the weapon. During COVID, they don’t use lockers, so they just have backpacks,” McDonald said.

“And unfortunately, he was allowed to get back to class. And we now know he had a weapon with him at that time. And that is simply tragic,” she added.
