Suspected Killer Holed Up in Home; SWAT Responds to Shooting Rampage
A Tense Standoff: Suspect and Hostages Inside New Jersey Home
In an alarming turn of events, a 26-year-old man is currently hold up in a Trenton, New Jersey home with hostages. This follows a chilling episode where he allegedly murdered three individuals in neighboring Falls Township, Pennsylvania before forcibly taking a vehicle.
Thankfully, all hostages within the premises managed to escape unharmed, while the armed suspect continues to be barricaded, as confirmed by the authorities.
Link to the Victims
The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed based on reportage policies, reportedly had personal connections to each of the victims he allegedly murdered, according to a CNN report. As per Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn, he tragically killed his 52-year-old stepmother and 13-year-old sister. Subsequently, he also purportedly murdered the 25-year-old mother of his two children at a separate location.
A Neighborhood in Distress
Citizens of Falls Township—a short distance from Trenton—were advised to stay indoors as the search for the suspect ensued. Relief came when the shelter-in-place directive was lifted following his location in Trenton.
“We are probing a spree killing that transpired this morning,” Jeff Dence, chairman of the Falls Township Board of Supervisors, told CNN. “The incident is believed to be tied to domestic issues. Three fatalities occurred across two different residences.”
Moments Leading to the Standoff
Authorities responded to an emergency call at Viewpoint Lane in Levittown around 9:00 a.m. on a Saturday, where it’s reported the suspect fatally shot two household members, as per Fox News. Shortly after, he is accused of moving to a house on Edgewood Lane, claiming another life. In the fleeing moments, he allegedly commandeered a vehicle at gunpoint in a Dollar General parking lot, before heading to Trenton. The carjacking victim was unharmed and unrelated to the suspect.
The police have labeled the suspect as “extremely dangerous,” possibly homeless, and with connections to the Trenton area. He’s believed to be armed with an assault rifle used in the crimes and might possess more weapons.
Upon locating the hijacked car deserted on Miller Street in Trenton, law enforcement, alongside a SWAT team, cordoned off a residence where the suspect is believed to be entrenched with potential hostages.
