Former Vice President Mike Pence Doubles Down on Opposition to Trump and ‘Crackpot Lawyers’
In a fiery interview on Wednesday, former Vice President Mike Pence didn’t hold back his criticism of former President Donald Trump. This comes just a day after Trump was hit with four felony charges related to the controversial 2020 election.
Special counsel Jack Smith charged Trump with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy against the rights of citizens, and obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding.
The 45-page indictment revealed notes taken by Pence during his conversations with Trump after the election and leading up to the Jan. 6 Capitol incursion.
When the indictment was announced, Pence took to Twitter to side with the Justice Department and launch an attack on Trump.
During a recent interview with Fox News, Pence further intensified his criticism.
Host Martha MacCallum claimed that Trump had asked Pence to “pause” the certification of the election results in 2020. However, Pence vehemently denied this.
“Let’s be clear on this point, it wasn’t just to ask for a ’pause,'” Pence asserted. ”The president specifically asked me, and his gaggle of crackpot lawyers asked me, to literally reject votes, which would have resulted in the issue being turned over to the House of Representatives, and chaos would have ensued.”

Pence responded to critics of his decision not to reject electors on Jan. 6 by urging them to read Smith’s indictment.
“The American people deserve to know that President Trump and his advisers didn’t just ask me to pause, they asked me to reject votes, return votes, essentially to overturn the election,” Pence explained.

Pence emphasized that he rejected Trump’s request without hesitation, fulfilling his duty.
However, some viewers accused the former vice president of being a “swamp creature.”

Trump wasted no time in responding to Pence’s remarks on Truth Social, firing back at his former ally.
Pence’s presidential campaign for 2024 has been struggling, with polls showing him in the low single digits.
