Swing state Democratic candidate Jacky Rosen receives maximum donations from the Soros family
Senator Jacky Rosen, a Democrat from Nevada running for reelection in 2024, received maximum donations from George Soros and his son, Alex Soros. The Soros family is known for contributing significantly to Democratic campaigns and left-progressive nonprofit organizations. This news comes as Rosen faces a competitive election in Nevada, with Republican Sam Brown likely to be her main opponent. Former President Donald Trump has not endorsed a GOP candidate in Nevada’s Senate primary yet.
Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV), who is running for reelection in the swing state of Nevada in 2024, accepted maximum donations of $6,600 each in the first quarter of this year from left-wing billionaire George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, records show.
The Soroses, who ahead of the 2024 election are pouring large sums into Democratic campaign coffers and left-progressive nonprofit organizations, cut the separate checks to Rosen’s campaign in January, according to new Federal Election Commission filings. The large donations add on to the more than $43,000 that the senator has received since 2016 from the Soros family.
News of the cash transfers comes as Rosen, who has sought to position herself as a centrist, looks to hold onto her competitive seat in Nevada this year. The race is widely viewed as a toss-up. She is likely to face off against Republican Sam Brown, an Army veteran who has the blessing of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and GOP senators.
Former President Donald Trump has not yet endorsed a GOP candidate in Nevada’s Senate primary, which also includes ex-state assemblyman Jim Marchant and Jeffrey Gunter, Trump’s former ambassador to Iceland. A mid-April poll sponsored by the NRSC found Brown leading primary opponents by over 50 points.
On the campaign trail, Republicans have sought to paint Rosen as being beholden to out-of-state billionaires and out of touch with voters, including by spending thousands of dollars one fine dining and at five-star resorts.
Rosen, who has voted with President Joe Biden roughly 93% of the time since 2021, has seen some of her stock investments in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies soar as she pressed for lower drug prices, according to a Washington Examiner investigation — a fact the GOP says is an example of the senator demonstrating clear hypocrisy while in office.
Rosen’s acceptance of the donations from the Soroses is despite her long slamming billionaires for influencing elections.

“MAGA billionaires and Mitch McConnell’s dark money machine are going to pour millions into Nevada’s Senate race,” Rosen said in late January. “I’m depending on grassroots support to fend them off.”
Records show that less than 10% of Rosen’s campaign haul in the first quarter of 2024 came from donors in Nevada — with donors from New York and California combined accounting for over 35% of the cash.
