Taxpayers finance immigrant journeys north, cash provided for their discretion
Illegal Immigrants at U.S.-Mexico Border Receiving Over $1 Billion in Benefits, Investigation Finds
Illegal immigrants attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border are being provided with more than $1 billion in money cards, cash envelopes, and other benefits funded by American taxpayers as part of President Joe Biden’s pro-immigration initiatives, according to a recent investigation by a watchdog group.
The investigation revealed that religious-based and humanitarian organizations, supported by the State Department and U.S.-backed United Nations outlets, are offering financial assistance and loans to ease the challenges faced by immigrants as they journey to the border. In December alone, over 300,000 individuals made the trek.
The Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington-based watchdog group, discovered that the State Department allocated approximately $1.4 billion to international humanitarian groups in the past year. Despite President Biden’s claims of taking action to curb illegal immigration, these programs have continued to receive full funding.
“Biden is directly responsible for funding a mass migration crisis of unprecedented scale, now in its fourth consecutive year,” stated Todd Bensman, a senior national security fellow at CIS.
Government Funds Funneled Through Faith-Based Nonprofits
Bensman’s investigation focused on more than 30 faith-based nonprofit organizations, including Jewish, Lutheran, Seventh Day Adventist, Catholic, and nondenominational evangelical groups. He found that the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, along with the U.S. Agency for International Development, have been providing taxpayer funds to these organizations. The funds are then distributed to support hundreds of thousands of migrants as they make their way towards illegal border crossings.
Additionally, the International Organization of Migration, a United Nations group aiding immigrants from Central and South America, has received $1.4 billion from the Biden administration.
Bensman highlighted that the State Department openly acknowledges providing guidance to field staff regarding budget and planning coordination for the Latin American effort. The department has also handed over the operation of significant U.S. government policy initiatives in Latin America, such as expanding “refugee” centers and managing no-interest “international travel loan” programs.
These programs have raised immigration concerns both at the border and within the United States, where hundreds of thousands of individuals have been relocated under Biden’s open-borders agenda.
“It undermines the country by facilitating the northward journey of primarily economic immigrants who willingly embark on the trip, knowing that all their basic needs will be met and that border policies virtually guarantee their entry and long-term stay,” Bensman wrote in his investigative report.
Over Half a Million Immigrants Benefit from U.S. Funds
Bensman’s findings revealed that more than half a million immigrants have received financial assistance from the U.S. through UN groups and nongovernmental organizations.
“The UN has entrusted faith-based NGOs with handling a significant portion of the $372 million in ‘Cash and Voucher Assistance’ and ‘Multipurpose Cash Assistance’ that will be distributed to an estimated 624,000 migrants in transit to the United States by 2024. This money is often provided through prepaid debit cards, cash envelopes, bank transfers, and mobile transfers, allowing border-bound travelers to use the funds as they wish,” explained Bensman.
He further emphasized that the U.N. plan for Latin America in 2024 clearly indicates a joint effort between U.N. and U.S. agencies to expand the involvement of NGOs along migration routes. This suggests that even more U.S. taxpayer money will be diverted to support these organizations.
What types of financial aids, such as money cards and cash envelopes, are being provided to immigrants at the border and for what purposes?
Over $24 million in funding from the U.S. government in the past year. This money is used to provide transportation and medical assistance to migrants on their journey to the U.S.-Mexico border.
The investigation also discovered that these funds are being used to provide money cards and cash envelopes to immigrants at the border. These financial aids are meant to help them during their stay in the United States and provide for their basic needs such as food, shelter, and transportation.
While the intentions behind these initiatives may be well-meaning, critics argue that they are only encouraging more illegal immigration. By providing financial support to immigrants, the U.S. government is essentially incentivizing more people to make the dangerous journey to the border in hopes of receiving these benefits.
Moreover, this influx of illegal immigrants poses various challenges for American taxpayers and the government. The strain on resources such as healthcare, education, and housing is immense, and the cost of providing for these individuals falls on the shoulders of American citizens.
Furthermore, the current situation at the U.S.-Mexico border has created a humanitarian crisis. Reports of overcrowded detention centers and unsanitary conditions have raised concerns about the well-being and safety of these immigrants. While efforts are being made to improve these conditions, the sheer number of people attempting to cross the border makes it difficult to address all the challenges effectively.
The Biden administration has been facing criticism for their handling of the immigration crisis. Despite promises to address the issue, the continuation of these pro-immigration initiatives suggests that the government is not taking effective steps to discourage illegal immigration and protect American taxpayers’ interests.
In conclusion, the investigation conducted by the Center for Immigration Studies reveals that illegal immigrants attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border are receiving over $1 billion in benefits funded by American taxpayers. These initiatives, supported by religious-based and humanitarian organizations, are meant to provide financial assistance and support to immigrants on their journey. However, critics argue that these programs only serve to incentivize more illegal immigration and place a strain on American resources. The Biden administration’s failure to address this issue effectively raises concerns about its commitment to curbing illegal immigration and prioritizing the interests of American citizens.
