Taylor Swift Brutally Mocked Over Private Plane Fuel Emissions; Her Team Issues Statement

Singer Taylor Swift, an unabashed hardcore leftist, was slammed online after a report published last week claimed that her private jet was responsible for creating more carbon emissions than any other celebrity’s.

The report from Yard said that her aircraft was in the sky nearly 23,000 minutes this year, on average taking 80 minute flights, and that her plane’s flight emissions alone were responsible for creating well over 8,000 tonnes of emissions, more than 1,180 times the average person’s total annual emissions.

A spokesperson for Swift claimed in a statement to Rolling Stone that most of the trips on Swift’s jet were not actually taken by Swift.

“Taylor’s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals,” the representative said. “To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.”

The other celebrities mentioned in the report from second-highest jet emissions to tenth-highest include, in order, boxer Floyd Mayweather, 7,076 tonnes of emissions; rapper Jay-Z, 6,981 tonnes of emissions; former baseball player Alex Rodriguez, 5,342 tonnes of emissions; musician Blake Shelton, 4,495 tonnes of emissions; film director Steven Spielberg, 4,465 tonnes of emissions; Kim Kardashian 4,268 tonnes of emissions; actor Mark Wahlberg, 3,772 tonnes of emissions; television host Oprah Winfrey, 3,493 tonnes of emissions; and rapper Travis Scott, 3,033 tonnes of emissions.

The report comes after billionaire Kylie Jenner faced backlash a couple of weeks ago over reports that she used her private plane for flights as short as three minutes to avoid having to sit in traffic for roughly 45 minutes.

The Daily Wire reported at the time that the outrage began with a photo Jenner posted to her Instagram page, showing her and rapper Travis Scott standing in front of a parked Rolls Royce and two private jets — one of which belonged to Scott and the other to Jenner.

Jenner captioned the photo — on which comments and embed options have been limited since the backlash began —”You wanna take mine or yours?”

While some responded positively to the photo, saying that “His & Hers” private jets were among their own personal goals, a number pointed out that private jets are not known for being eco-friendly — and that it was especially tone-deaf to post something like that when the general public is being asked to embrace mitigation measures that are inconvenient or uncomfortable.

Virginia Kruta contributed to this report.
