Ted Cruz Gets the Last Laugh on the Wuhan Lab Leak Against Hack Washington Post “Fact-Checker”
RedState reportedAccording to US Department of Energy classified intelligence, a leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology is the most likely source of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is after years of censorship under the pretext of policing. “misinformation.”
Some members of the media rushed to defend China and promote the absurd notion that the virus originated naturally and was spread through a wet marketplace. Glenn Kessler from The Washington Post, who is apparently their top journalist, is one of them. “fact-checker.”
In mid-2020 there was an desperate attempt to put COVID-19 blame on Donald Trump. Part of that scheme was the dismissal from the lab leak theory. Why? China would be responsible for spreading the virus if it was created in a laboratory using banned gain-of function research. Kessler and other experts couldn’t accept that the orange man was a bad person.
I am afraid @tedcruz The scientific animation that shows how this virus can leap from the laboratory was not included in the video. You can also see interviews with scientists. We focus on facts and viewers can decide for themselves. https://t.co/TprMnaHSZL

Consider how absurd Kessler’s original post, published just four months after COVID-19 was made public. In all that confusion and chaos, he believed that the Post had made an animation that was final. His declaration that “we deal in facts” Condescension was evident toward Cruz.
Here’s the “how it started” And “how it’s going” Side-by side to show just how wrong Kessler really was

Is there a better example of why appeals at authority are often meaningless than this? Kessler mocked that the Post had done it “many interviews with actual scientists.” But who were they? What was the point of their errors? Is it possible that the Post didn’t bother to vet their claims? They didn’t, as they might have given credence to Cruz’s statement. This was also what Trump administration was saying.
Consider this an important lesson. If a news outlet quotes “experts,” They are often just cherry-picking people who have credentials that support the narrative they wish to promote. In 2020, that was what the Post was doing. Kessler was also doing that by citing that report. It was not about discovering the truth. It was about finding the right people to give them the political fodder that they wanted.
The wet-market theory was never a valid one. How could the Chinese know that the virus originated from a bat in a particular wet market? It is absurd to expect anyone to believe any of their claims. In this instance, Occam’s razor was the only plausible explanation for lab leakage. It was the simplest and most practical explanation of what had happened. The fact that so many people in the media vilified those asking questions is another problem for an industry already atrocious in its credibility.
