Teenage ​Boy Arrested in Connection with String of Hit-and-Run Attacks

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.—A teenage boy was taken into custody on September 13th in connection with a ‍series of‍ alleged hit-and-run attacks in Huntington Beach, including one that tragically ⁢resulted ​in the death of a man.

The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed due to his age, was apprehended at approximately ​9 p.m. on September 12th,⁤ according to Jessica Cuchilla,‍ a spokesperson for the Huntington ⁢Beach Police Department. ⁢He has been booked into Orange County ⁣Juvenile Hall on charges ​of murder and assault with a ​deadly weapon.

According to‍ Ms. Cuchilla, the incident was first reported on September 10th around 10:30 p.m. when a motorist intentionally sideswiped a bicyclist at the intersection of Brad Drive and Edwards Street.

While authorities⁢ were still at the scene of the first collision, where the victim sustained⁢ minor injuries, another report ​came in about a bicyclist ​being struck at the intersection of Heil Avenue and Springdale Street. Tragically, ⁢the ‍victim, identified as 70-year-old Steven Gonzales of Huntington Beach, succumbed to his injuries.

Later that evening, another victim contacted the police, stating that they were riding their bike⁣ at Warner Avenue⁢ and Edwards Street when they were ⁢also hit by a hit-and-run vehicle. Fortunately, this victim only suffered minor injuries.

The‍ police located a black Toyota ⁣four-door car believed to be involved in the attacks, which ultimately led to the arrest of the teenage suspect.
