Tennis great Martina Navratilova diagnosed with Throat Cancer and Breast Cancer
Martina Navratilova, Wimbledon tennis legend, has revealed that she is currently suffering from throat cancer and breast cancer. However, she is vowing to fight the disease. “with all I have got.”
Navratilova, the Wimbledon champion, revealed to her fans that she had been diagnosed with a swollen neck in November.
“This double whammy is serious but still fixable,” The 66-year old Navratilova saidAccording to the Daily Mail “I’m hoping for a favorable outcome. It’s going to stink for a while, but I’ll fight with all I have got.”
Navratilova had already beat cancer once, when she was declared free from cancer after a battle with breast cancer in 2010.
A representative of her claims that her outlook for recovery has been lowered in a formal statement. “good.”
“Martina Navratilova has been diagnosed with stage one throat cancer,” The statement is as follows: “The prognosis is good and Martina will start her treatment this month.”
“The cancer type is HPV, and this particular type responds really well to treatment. Martina noticed an enlarged lymph node in her neck during the WTA finals in Fort Worth. When it didn’t go down, a biopsy was performed, the results came back as stage one throat cancer.”

During her 40 year tennis career, Navratilova has won 59 grand slam singles/doubles titles. She also won a record nine Wimbledon singles titles between 1978 and 1990, and 18 total Grand Slam titles, making her one of the most accomplished tennis pros in the game’s history.
Indeed, Navratilova was 50 when she won her last Grand Slam in mixed Doubles playing with Bob Bryan. This made her the oldest Grand Slam winner.
She was a frequent sports commentator after her retirement. She was also one of the first openly gay tennis players. But, she is not a proponent of transgender athletes.
In 2020, for instance, Navratilova joined The University of Pennsylvania’s decision to allow Lia Thomas, a male-born swimmer, to compete against women of natural birth and take trophies away for actual female swimmers prompted a furious response.
Navratilova, too spoke against Australian Open for banning T-shirts in Support of Peng Shuai, Chinese Tennis Player. He was accused by a high-ranking Chinese Official of rape.
