Tesla unveils revamped Model 3 sedan at Beijing trade fair.
Tesla Unveils Restyled Model 3 in Beijing
The excitement was palpable as Tesla showcased its newly redesigned, China-made Model 3 sedan to the public for the first time at a trade fair in Beijing. This comes just a day after its global launch in several countries.
The eye-catching flame red version of the car, a striking departure from its previous models, was proudly displayed at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). This marks the first major update to Tesla’s mass-market car lineup since the successful launch of the Model Y in 2020.
A Game-Changing Move
What makes this launch even more significant is that it is the first time Tesla has introduced a vehicle in China before the United States. This highlights the company’s growing reliance on the Chinese market, where it is in fierce competition with BYD for market share.
The Model 3 is being manufactured at Tesla’s state-of-the-art Shanghai plant and will also be exported to other markets in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Notably, some of its new features, such as a rear display for back-seat passengers, are specifically tailored to appeal to Chinese buyers.
Engaging with Potential Buyers
At the trade fair, Tesla’s knowledgeable sales staff eagerly answered questions from interested buyers. One such buyer, a 22-year-old university student named Guo, expressed his enthusiasm for the car’s debut as he carefully examined its features.
“I came to the fair to learn more about the car’s debut,” Guo shared. He particularly appreciated the upgrades to the audio system and the rear display, noting that “people in the back seat may not feel so bored while riding in the car.”
However, not everyone was convinced. Hu, a visitor to the Tesla booth, expressed her reservations about placing an order. “There’s no special reason (to buy Tesla), because now there are so many new energy vehicles,” she explained.
Continued Showcasing
Tesla plans to continue showcasing the new Model 3 at the upcoming Munich auto show, which opens on Tuesday.
