Oversight Chair claims Joe Biden may have violated foreign agent registration laws.

Testimony Reveals Potential Violation of Foreign Agents Registration Act by President Joe Biden

During a recent hearing, Chairman James Comer (R-KY) of the House‌ Oversight Committee suggested that President Joe Biden may⁤ have violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

Comer, in various TV interviews and social media posts,‌ highlighted the statements made by Devon ⁢Archer, former ⁤business partner of Hunter⁣ Biden, during a closed-door hearing. According‍ to Comer, Archer’s testimony “opened the door” to potential⁢ FARA violations in the Biden family’s dealings with foreign ‍nationals.

Comer raised ⁤the question of whether Joe Biden violated the FARA, as ‌his family received significant amounts of‍ money‍ from these foreign individuals. Comer pointed out that the individuals Hunter Biden associated with ⁢were not reputable business people⁣ and were under investigation or fleeing their home countries.

The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), as explained by the Department of Justice (DOJ), requires⁤ agents of foreign⁢ principals engaged in political or specified activities ‍to disclose‌ their relationship with the foreign principal and provide details of their activities and financial transactions. ‍Violations ‌of FARA⁣ can result ⁣in⁣ criminal or civil penalties, including imprisonment and fines.

Prosecutors have indicated that Hunter Biden may ‌face FARA violations, as‍ plea and pretrial ⁢diversion agreements⁤ related to ‍alleged tax and gun crimes‍ encountered obstacles. Comer and other GOP House ⁤chairmen are now pressing the DOJ for information regarding this⁤ arrangement.

During the closed-door‍ hearing, Archer revealed that Hunter Biden‍ frequently involved his father in business meetings, using speakerphone to sell the ‌”brand” and create the “illusion of⁢ access.” Comer stated that Archer’s testimony confirms⁣ Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s business dealings, contradicting the president’s previous claims of no knowledge or involvement.

Rep. Dan ‌Goldman (D-NY), a ⁣member of the panel, argued that Joe Biden’s ‌conversations were ⁣casual ‌and unrelated ⁤to ⁢financial benefits. He called for the ⁢release of the transcript to support this claim. The House Oversight Committee⁤ has announced that the transcript⁣ will‌ be released after necessary processes.

Conservative commentator‌ Mark Levin has⁢ suggested that the ⁢FARA issue could lead to discussions about Biden’s impeachment.

While Joe Biden previously⁤ denied discussing his son’s business dealings, the ‍White House now asserts that the president‌ never engaged in business with Hunter. However, recent ‍developments have brought attention back to Biden’s involvement‌ in Ukraine, including an‍ alleged bribery scheme involving Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy ‌company that ‌employed Hunter Biden. The controversy also revolves around‌ Biden’s push to fire the country’s top prosecutor investigating the company.

Comer emphasized the significance ⁣of Biden’s ‌potential violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, citing his active participation⁢ in the Burisma deal and the withholding of American tax dollars as leverage. Comer described Archer’s⁢ interview as a crucial step ‌towards implicating Joe Biden in these alleged crimes.
