Texas arrests illegal immigrants, defying Biden administration
Texas Defies Biden Administration, Arrests Illegal Immigrants in Shelby Park
In a bold move, Texas has taken control of Shelby Park, a 47-acre public park in Eagle Pass, and is now arresting illegal immigrants for trespassing. This defiance comes as the Biden administration demands that the state cede control of the park back to federal authorities.
The decision to take control of the park was made due to the large influxes of illegal immigrants and the perceived lack of action from federal officials. While the Biden administration claims that Texas has impeded Border Patrol, the state argues that federal officials are exacerbating the border crisis.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesman Chris Olivarez, state troopers have already started making arrests in Shelby Park. He stated, “Under the authority of Governor Greg Abbott’s Border Disaster Declaration, Texas DPS Troopers are enforcing criminal trespass on single adult men & women in Shelby Park. The State of Texas will maintain a proactive posture in curbing illegal border crossings between the ports of entry.”

Just recently, three more illegal immigrants were arrested in Shelby Park. Two individuals from Azerbaijan and one from Ecuador attempted to cross into the park through barbed wire set up by Texas and were subsequently arrested and jailed for criminal trespass.
The Department of Homeland Security sent a cease-and-desist letter to Texas, demanding that they relinquish control of Shelby Park. However, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton firmly stated that the state would not give up control.
Paxton responded to the DHS letter, saying, “Texas will not surrender to Biden’s destructive open-border policies. Attorney General Paxton will continue to defend Texas as it uses its constitutional authority to defend state territory, sovereignty, and citizens.”

In response to the Biden administration’s threats, Paxton wrote, “Rather than addressing Texas’s urgent requests for protection, President Biden has authorized DHS to send a threatening letter through its lawyers. But Texas has lawyers, too, and I will continue to stand up for this State’s constitutional powers of self-defense. Instead of running to the U.S. Department of Justice in hopes of winning an injunction, you should advise your clients at DHS to do their job and follow the law.”
The battle for control of Shelby Park continues, with the Biden administration vowing to use all legal measures to regain control.
How does Texas justify its actions in Shelby Park and what authority does Governor Greg Abbott’s Border Disaster Declaration provide?
Texas Defies Biden Administration, Arrests Illegal Immigrants in Shelby Park
In a recent groundbreaking move, the state of Texas has defied the Biden administration by taking control of Shelby Park, a 47-acre public park located in Eagle Pass, and has begun arresting illegal immigrants for trespassing. This act of defiance comes as the Biden administration demands that Texas cede control of the park back to federal authorities.
The decision to take control of Shelby Park was driven by the growing influx of illegal immigrants into the area and the perceived lack of action from federal officials. While the Biden administration claims that Texas has impeded Border Patrol operations, the state argues that it is the federal officials who are exacerbating the border crisis.
According to Chris Olivarez, the Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesman, state troopers have already commenced making arrests in Shelby Park. He stated, “Under the authority of Governor Greg Abbott’s Border Disaster Declaration, Texas DPS Troopers are enforcing criminal trespass on single adult men and women in Shelby Park. The State of Texas will maintain a proactive posture in curbing illegal border crossings between the ports of entry.”
This move by Texas reflects the state’s determination to address the issue of illegal immigration in its own way, rather than relying on the federal government’s approach. Governor Greg Abbott’s Border Disaster Declaration empowers Texas to take a more hands-on approach and enforce its own laws within its borders to protect its citizens and uphold national security.
The defiance shown by Texas also highlights the ongoing differences in ideology between state and federal authorities when it comes to immigration policies. While the Biden administration aims to adopt a more lenient stance on immigration, Texas seeks to prioritize the rule of law and ensure that its borders remain secure.
The situation in Shelby Park serves as a microcosm of the wider challenges faced by border states in dealing with illegal immigration. The state of Texas, being one of the largest border states, often bears the brunt of the impact of uncontrolled immigration, including increased crime rates, strain on public resources, and compromised national security.
Texas has taken a bold step by asserting its authority and taking control of Shelby Park to address the issue of illegal immigration. Whether this act of defiance will lead to a resolution or further tensions between the state and federal governments remains to be seen. However, it sends a clear message that Texas is committed to protecting its borders and enforcing its laws, irrespective of the demands of the Biden administration.
