Texas CBP officers seize $366,183 worth of cocaine at Veterans International Bridge

United States Custom and Border Protection (CBP) officers have made a significant drug seizure at the Veterans International Bridge in Texas, intercepting over $366,000 worth of cocaine.
According to an agency news release on Monday, CBP officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle while monitoring the bridge on Friday.
The vehicle, a 2018 Nissan driven by a 50-year-old male Texan, was pulled over for inspection as it attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico.
“The vehicle was referred to CBP secondary for further examination after a primary inspection,” the release said. “While in the secondary inspection area, with the aid of a canine unit, CBP officers discovered 14 packages hidden within the vehicle. CBP officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 27.42 pounds of alleged cocaine.”
The CBP press release stated that the seized cocaine is estimated to be worth $366,183.
Michael B. Reyes, the Port director at the Brownsville Port of Entry, commended the officers for their use of multiple enforcement tools during the inspection.
“Our officers use multiple enforcement tools to conduct their inspections and their efforts led to this significant narcotics interception,” said Reyes.
The release also mentioned that the driver and passenger have been placed in custody for investigation by Homeland Security, and the illicit drugs were retained by CBP officers.
