Texas Bolsters Border Security with ⁢Razor Wire Installation

Texas is taking further measures to secure its ‍southern border by ⁤installing razor wire⁣ along the New ‍Mexico border. Governor ‍Greg Abbott has deployed the Texas National Guard to erect a ⁤barrier ⁤along ⁣the Rio Grande River near Sunland Park, New Mexico. ⁤This small‍ community,⁤ located in the southeast ⁤corner of the state, is sandwiched between Ciudad Juarez,⁤ Mexico, to⁢ the south and El Paso, Texas, to the east.

According to ⁣Governor Abbott, immigrants⁢ are bypassing Texas barriers by entering⁤ through an open passage in New Mexico and then making their way into ‌Texas. To put an end to this, ⁤Texas is constructing a barrier on the New Mexico border.

In ‌addition to the ⁤physical barriers, Governor Abbott has transported over 50,000 illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities across ‌the country, including⁤ New York City,‍ Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, ⁣Denver, and Washington D.C. This move⁤ has been criticized ⁢as ⁤a “political stunt.”

“There needs to be better cooperation,” stated‍ Congressman Vasquez during the discussion, as reported by ⁣the Santa Fe New Mexican.

“The El Paso Sector actually monitors and operates across the entire 180 miles ‌of the ⁤U.S./Mexico⁣ border across my entire district, so from the‍ federal level, there’s ⁣coordination between‌ Texas and New Mexico,” he continued.⁤ “At the state level, we have seen that some of Gov. Congressman Vasquez, who is up for reelection in 2024, expressed his commitment to addressing the border issues in Congress, highlighting the underfunding and understaffing of federal agencies responsible for border control.

The installation of razor‍ wire along⁤ the New Mexico border is a strategic move to address the loophole that immigrants have been exploiting. By⁢ establishing a physical barrier in ⁤this area, Texas aims to close off this pathway and decrease ‍the number of undocumented immigrants entering the ‍state.
