Texas Tech Suspends Head Basketball Coach For Quoting The Bible
Texas Tech University was founded less than a year ago. busted The four-year university fired Mark Adams, head men’s basketball coach at the school. Adams had quoted the Bible to an undergrad.
After learning from Adams that he had encouraged one his basketball players, Kirby Hocutt, Director of Athletics at TTU suspended Adams. “to be more receptive to coaching and referenced Bible verses about workers, teachers, parents, and slaves serving their masters.”
According to university sources, the comment was “inappropriate, unacceptable, and racially insensitive” Hocutt gave Adams a written formal reprimand, suspended Adams, and ordered an investigation into Adams’ past. “interactions with his players and staff.”
TTU claimed Adams said that Adams made the comment infliction when he was confronted by offense. “immediately addressed this with the team and apologized.” Adams however stated that this was incorrect.
“One of my coaches said it bothered the player,” Adams said Stadium. “I explained to them. I didn’t apologize.”
Adams claimed that the controversial exchange was meant to be “a private conversation about coaching and when you have a job, and being coachable.”
“I said that in the Bible that Jesus talks about how we all have bosses, and we all are servants,” Adams added. “I was quoting the Bible about that.”
TTU hired Adams in April 2021 as its head coach to replace Chris Beard. Adams led the team to 27 victories in its first season. This was the record for any TTU head coach. Adams also led TTU’s Red Raiders team to the Sweet 16 and Big 12 finals.
Adams’ impressive debut record, however, quickly dwindled earlier this year. TTU’s men’s basketball squad is just 5-13 in Big 12 play and overall 16-15.
