Jordan Neely: The Michael Jackson Impersonator

Jordan Neely caused a scene on the New York subway this week, screaming at passengers and causing a disturbance. Two bystanders, including a 24-year-old military vet, stepped in to subdue him and prevent any harm. In a sane world, these heroes would be celebrated for their quick action in a moment of danger. Instead, the media has focused on Neely’s identity as a Michael Jackson impersonator, and Democrats are using this detail to threaten violence and destruction.

The Unjust Treatment of Heroes

It’s unfortunate that the media has chosen to focus on Neely’s identity as a Michael Jackson impersonator, rather than the heroic actions of the two bystanders who prevented harm. NBC’s “Today” even paid tribute to Neely with a montage of his street performances, accompanied by an upbeat Michael Jackson song. Meanwhile, Democrats like AOC have accused the vet of murder, and Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine eulogized Neely, saying he “always made people smile.”

We don’t even know the names of the two men who intervened, but because one of them happened to be white and was the one holding Neely to the ground, he’s being targeted. It’s funny how no one is saying a word about the second man who was trying to arrest Neely’s flailing arms and who appears to have been black.

The Reality of Subway Harassment

Anyone who has used a metropolitan subway system knows what it feels like to be verbally harassed or even physically molested by someone like Neely. In those moments, you can only hope that someone of greater strength is nearby to offer protection. And now that Democrat district attorneys in major cities have legalized “non-violent” crime, subway passengers have no choice but to say their prayers and hope for the best.

The Importance of Heroes

Nobody deserves to die, but it’s important to recognize the bravery of those who step in to prevent harm. It’s unfortunate that the media and politicians are more interested in using Neely’s identity as a Michael Jackson impersonator to further their own agendas, rather than celebrating the actions of the two heroes who prevented harm.
