The Boys adds Disclaimer to season finale after Trump assassination attempt
Amazon Prime’s The Boys has added a Disclaimer to its season four finale, which had originally been titled “Assassination Run.”
The show, based on the comic book line of the same name, is a satire of the political climate within the United States, and released its season finale Thursday, five days after the attempted assassination against former President Donald Trump. The Disclaimer included at the start of the finale underscores that the show is a satire of political violence, which some viewers “may find disturbing” after Saturday’s historic event.
“The Boys is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional,” reads the Disclaimer, which was also shared online. “Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.”
Additionally, the show’s finale has also been retitled to simply “Season Four Finale.”
Season four’s storyline of The Boys features the main characters attempting to kill Victoria Neuman, who is working for Homelander, the show’s villain, whom viewers have compared to an evil Superman.
The attempted assassination occurred when Trump was speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania. He narrowly avoided the shots fired when he turned his head, but one victim, Corey Comperatore, was killed in the shooting, and two others, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, were injured.
The shooter has since been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks. No motive has been established yet.
