The bongino report

In 4 Weeks, the Cardinals will begin their 4th Quarterback

It’s been an amazing season for the Arizona Cardinals as well as their fanbase. For them, 2023 and the New Year can’t come soon enough.

This year, the 4-11 Cardinals have been a disaster with little going their way.

That’s especially true at the quarterback position.

This weekend the Cardinals Play the Atlanta Falcons. The team will begin their FOURTH quarterback for the season.

If that’s not crazy enough, this weekend marks the FOURTH-STRAIGHT game that Arizona will have a different signal caller under center.

Are the Cardinals also placing their faith in now?

David Blough is 27 years old. As recently as two weeks ago Blough wasn’t even signed to an NFL team. And he hasn’t thrown an NFL pass since 2020. What could go wrong?!

Former Purdue star has previous NFL experience. In 2019, he started five games for the Detroit Lions… he lost all of them.

The Cardinals had high hopes for Kyler Murray to lead them to another solid season. That unfortunately didn’t happen as Murray suffered a season-ending knee injury on December 12th when Arizona lost to the Patriots.

Colt McCoy followed. After finishing against the Patriots, he started against the Denver Broncos. He then suffered a concussion-like injury to his head. Although he was expected to return this weekend, he had concussion-like symptoms that he experienced during practice this week.

The Cardinals then went to Trace McSorley Christmas Day. It actually was close – but not because of him. The Buccaneers lost 19-16.

So now it’s David Blough’s time to shine. He will be the NFL’s 64th different starting quarterback this season – tying a non-strike season record set in 2007.

The Cardinals have now lost five of their last eight games and seven of their previous eight.
