House Speaker Announces Impeachment Inquiry into President Biden
This week, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) made a bold move by announcing the opening of an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. McCarthy explained that these allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption deserve further investigation by the House of Representatives. Not only does this impeachment inquiry provide House Republicans with a stronger legal defense against claims of exceeding Congressional authority, but it also sends a clear message to the American public about the Republican Party’s commitment to making Biden’s corruption a top issue in the 2024 election.
Turnabout is Fair Play
For those who criticize Republican politicking, it’s important to remember that turnabout is fair play. Donald Trump faced impeachment not once, but twice, with Democrats failing to allege any statutory crime. They relied on the fact that impeachment is a political response rather than a criminal one. While this may be true, it sets a precedent in the context of previous impeachments. Democrats pursued impeachment inquiries without even holding a vote in the House. The genie is out of the bottle, and it’s here to stay.
Damning Allegations and Compelling Evidence
The allegations against Biden are already damning, and the evidence is equally compelling. Biden utilized his son, Hunter, as a conduit to receive money from foreign sources on behalf of the Biden family. This pattern of using political power and influence for personal gain extends back decades. In the 1970s, Joe’s brother, Jimmy Biden, obtained generous loans from a local bank to open a rock club, thanks to Joe’s position on the Senate Banking Committee. In 1996, Joe sold his home to the vice president of MBNA in a sweetheart deal, while MBNA also hired Hunter fresh out of law school. MBNA was a major donor to Biden and benefited from his credit card policy decisions. As Politico reporter Ben Schreckinger put it, “The Bidens regularly intermingled personal, political, and financial relationships in ways that invited questions about whether the public interest was getting short-changed.”
The Burisma Connection
The most egregious abuse of power occurred when Joe became vice president. Hunter established connections in China and Ukraine through his father’s aide, and Joe would even participate in business meetings to discuss trivial matters. Hunter joined the board of Burisma, where he received an exorbitant amount of money in exchange for promising access to his father. In December 2015, Biden traveled to Ukraine and demanded the firing of a prosecutor investigating Burisma, threatening to withhold $1 billion in American aid. A confidential human source later revealed that Burisma’s CFO hired Hunter “to protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems.”
These instances are just the tip of the iceberg. There are numerous other examples of Biden’s questionable behavior.
Benefitting from Hunter’s Business Arrangements
The media claims there is no evidence to suggest that Joe benefited from Hunter’s business arrangements, but that is simply untrue. Securing benefits for a drug-addicted and morally compromised son undoubtedly benefits Joe. Furthermore, we have a text message directly from Hunter to his daughter in 2019, where he admits to supporting the entire family financially for 30 years and assures her that he won’t make her give him half her salary, unlike “Pop.”
A Coverup as Troubling as the Crime
All of this sets the stage for Biden’s behavior as president. Whistleblowers have revealed that the Biden Department of Justice attempted to strike a sweetheart deal with Hunter Biden to end any investigation into these matters. In this case, the coverup may be just as troubling as the crime itself.
The Verdict Lies with the American Voters
Ultimately, it will be the American voters who deliver their verdict on Biden. With Democrats in control of the Senate, he is unlikely to be removed from office. However, Republicans are justified in reminding Americans that Biden is not the honorable man restoring integrity to the Oval Office. He is a career-long corrupt politician who happened to have his enemies at the right place and time.
