IRS is fine, but DOJ needs assistance.
President Biden Calls for Action on Two-Tiered Tax System
President Joe Biden has highlighted the issue of a “two-tiered tax system” in the United States, where regular workers pay their taxes while wealthy tax cheats evade them. To address this problem, Biden has secured an additional $80 billion in funding for the tax agency, allowing them to hire 75,000 employees. This move aims to level the playing field and ensure that everyone pays their fair share.
While the IRS has proven effective in uncovering wealthy tax cheats, the Department of Justice has faced challenges in prosecuting them. Whistleblower testimony from IRS agent Gary Shapley revealed a range of tax crimes committed by Hunter Biden, son of President Biden. Hunter Biden allegedly wrote off expenses related to his hedonistic and criminal lifestyle, including payments to hookers, a sex club membership, and luxurious hotel rooms for his drug dealer and father.
Shapley’s colleague informed Congress that Hunter Biden has been flouting tax laws since 2002, leading to recommendations for charges including tax evasion. However, the DOJ, under Attorney General Merrick Garland, struck a controversial plea deal with Hunter Biden, raising concerns about favoritism and accountability.
In response to criticism, Garland defended the DOJ’s actions and denied any interference, stating that treating cases equally is essential for American democracy. However, many view this plea deal as a betrayal of the American people and a failure to uphold justice.
If Democrats like Garland want to address attacks on government institutions, such as the events of January 6, 2021, it is crucial to prioritize fairness and accountability. While the IRS has proven its ability to uncover missing tax dollars, a Department of Justice that administers the law without bias is equally important.
