Sen. John Fetterman’s Hoodie Collection
Sen. John Fetterman Meets with Labor Secretary Nominee Julie Su
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) may have been dressed casually in wrinkled basketball shorts and a burgundy Carhartt hoodie, but his message was clear when he met with President Joe Biden’s nominee for secretary of labor, Julie Su, on May 3. “We need a secretary of labor who will fight for workers,” Fetterman said in a statement. “It was an honor to meet with Acting Labor Secretary Su. I know she is the labor ally we need in this position. I will be voting yes on her confirmation, and I urge all my colleagues to do the same.”
Fetterman has been a vocal supporter of labor unions, and Su’s nomination has received a favorable report from the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions committee. If confirmed, Su would be the first Asian American Cabinet secretary to serve in Biden’s administration.
Casual Attire and Beer with Rep. Chris Deluzio
Sen. Fetterman is known for his casual attire, often seen in photos provided by his communications team. On April 28, freshman Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-Pa.) brought Fetterman a “Yinzer” sign to hang outside his Senate office, and the two shared an Iron City beer in a photo opportunity. “Repping Western PA down here in D.C. is a huge honor,” Deluzio said in a statement. “He’s one of the biggest Yinzers I know.”
In the photo, Fetterman wore navy blue drawstring basketball shorts and a wrinkled blue Carhartt hoodie. This is not surprising to Pennsylvania voters, as Fetterman often dressed casually on the campaign trail.
Health Concerns and Return to Work
After suffering a stroke on the Senate campaign trail last year, Fetterman’s health came into question. In February, he checked into George Washington University Hospital in Washington with symptoms of lightheadedness. A week later, he checked into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for severe symptoms of depression.
Since returning to work, Fetterman’s team has sent out more press releases than before, showing Fetterman working and emphasizing his busy schedule. While he may be known for his casual attire, photos show that he does own several suits, which he wears on the Senate floor, in meetings, and at galas.
