The Queen’s Visits To America And With U.S. Presidents, In Photos

Buckingham Palace shared the news Thursday that Queen Elizabeth II had died at the age of 96. In honor of her incredible life, we took a look back at her visits to America and with U.S. presidents during her lifetime.

The Queen recently celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 years on the throne and making her the longest reigning monarch in British history. During that time, she’s met almost every single president since Harry S. Truman, and so many of those moments have been captured in photos that will live forever.

In October 1951, Princess Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, arrived in Washington, D.C., and were welcomed by Truman. In the photo, Elizabeth is seen traveling in a motorcade, following a reception ceremony at Washington National Airport.
