‘The Rock’ Again Teases White House Run After Shocking Poll
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is stoking rumors he may run for president after a new poll found support for the action movie actor.
Johnson took to Twitter after the poll to say it’d be his “honor” to serve.
“Not sure our Founding Fathers ever envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny-pack-wearing guy joining their club,” the “Jumanji” actor wrote Friday.
“But if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve the people,” he added.

A poll released on Tuesday by Piplsay found that nearly half of the 30,000 people surveyed would support his candidacy. The poll found that 29% would support campaigns by both Johnson for president and actor Matthew McConaughey for Texas governor, with another 17% supporting Johnson’s run only.
“In addition to Johnson, the poll asked respondents to weigh in on whether a number of other celebrities should run for president,” Newsweek reported. “A presidential run from Angelina Jolie had the support of 30 percent, while 27 percent supported Oprah Winfrey and another 22 percent supported Tom Hanks. A combined 63 percent said that Hollywood stars would ‘make good politicians’ if they had ‘political aptitude’ or ‘the right team in place.’”
The former pro wrestler has been teasing a run for several years.
Speaking in February with USA Today about his new sitcom “Young Rock,” which chronicles his childhood, Johnson echoed his 2017 comments to Ellen DeGeneres that he may run for president.
“I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted,” he said. “Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer. That would be up to the people…So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.”
Shortly after former President Donald Trump took office, Johnson said he was “seriously considering” a run for the White House. In an odd twist, the faux-autobiographical “Young Rock” features a future version of Johnson who’s running for president in 2032.
Last September, Johnson called himself a “centrist” as he endorsed Joe Biden, clarifying that he has voted for both parties while lauding Kamala Harris as a “certified badass.”
“As a political independent & centrist, I’ve voted for both parties in the past,” Johnson tweeted. “In this critical presidential election, I’m endorsing [Joe Biden] & [Kamala Harris]. Progress takes courage, humanity, empathy, strength, KINDNESS & RESPECT. We must ALL VOTE[.]”
“I’ve got friends in all parties, but the one thing we can always agree on is the conversation and the dialogue, and where that conversation lands is always the most critical part,” he said in a video.
“I thought it was a great and extremely productive conversation that we had, and as a registered independent for years now with centrist ideologies, I do feel that Vice President Biden and Senator Harris are the best choice to lead our country, and I am endorsing them to become president and vice president of our United States,” he continued.
