The Six Christians Martyred In Nashville Are A Call To Repentance To All Who Will Hear It

The recent martyrdom of six Christians in Nashville, Tennessee should serve as a wake-up call for those who do not recognize the spiritual component of the West’s culture war. As it is written in Ephesians 6:12, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Their deaths should not be surprising, as the worshippers of demons always have, and will always, hate those whose lives are dedicated to Christ. The Savior warned us of this hatred and violence, and we honor His torture and triumph with Holy Week and Easter.

The six Christians, Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, William Kinney, Cynthia Peak, Katherine Koonce, and Mike Hill, were not simply metaphorical martyrs. They paid the ultimate price for their faith, and thus were given a heavy honor. Christians have always honored our martyrs, as they imitate Christ in personal suffering for the truth.

Persecution for Christ’s sake is not uncommon, but it is often ignored by those who live in majority-Christian nations. However, Christians throughout history and around the world have always been targeted for their faith. We must oppose this violence by all legal means available, while also using spiritual weapons in our fight.
