The Supreme Court is America’s final functioning institution
In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court ruled that states cannot use section 3 of the 14th Amendment to remove Donald Trump from state ballots due to his alleged ”insurrectionist” actions on Jan. 6, 2021.
Discovering that state officials lack the authority to simply eliminate prominent presidential candidates from ballots came as a shocking revelation to many incredulous left-wingers. Once convinced that Trump led a Hitlerian coup that nearly toppled democracy, any legal theory aimed at stopping him seems not only morally justified but legally sound.
Just last week, progressives were fuming over the Supreme Court’s failure to expedite Trump’s immunity claims to align with Joe Biden’s campaign schedule.
However, the deeper issue is that the left, and anyone obsessed with Trump, struggles to grasp the concept of neutrality in law or principle. The Associated Press mischaracterized the court’s decision as “Supreme Court restores Trump to ballot, rejecting state attempts to hold him accountable for attack on Capitol in 2021.” That is not an accurate representation of what actually transpired. The SCOTUS ruling focused on the constitutional question, while Colorado’s attempt to hold Trump accountable for “insurrection” is highly debatable.
In any case, this case serves as a reminder that the Supreme Court is perhaps the only functioning institution of government. By “functioning,” I don’t mean the court “moves the country forward,” “upholds democracy,” or ”keeps us safe,” as leftists claim. I mean that the court majority takes its constitutional mandate seriously.
While SCOTUS doesn’t always get every case right, it generally operates within normal boundaries. On the other hand, Congress has relinquished its responsibilities on war, spending, and governance to the executive branch. Nowadays, it’s more common to see a congressman engaging in social media spats than actively defending the constitution they swore to uphold.
Furthermore, Democrats often act as cheerleaders for executive abuse. The White House, in an abnormal manner, regulates the economy and our lives without oversight from the legislative branch or voters. Biden openly disregards the court, as seen in his unconstitutional student loan “forgiveness” plan, which is essentially an attempt to bribe younger voters.
The Colorado ballot case was so weak that even Sonia Sotomayor couldn’t support the Democrats. This is a rarity. Without the originalist justices appointed by Trump, unions would still be forcing workers to pay dues for causes they don’t support, and Americans could lose their businesses over thought crimes. This court has also protected the rights to self-defense, free expression, and prevented schools from discriminating based on race. Its significance cannot be overstated.
In July 2020, the Supreme Court’s approval rating stood at 58 percent. However, a concerted effort by donors, politicians, and major media organizations to smear and delegitimize the court has caused its approval rating to plummet to 41 percent, with disapproval at 58 percent, largely driven by left-wing voters.
Most of the justices have remained resilient against political pressures. The court was designed to be impervious to the fluctuations of public opinion. This is unsettling for individuals like Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a leading conspiracy theorist, who believes low poll numbers indicate a legitimacy problem. One can’t help but wonder what the 12 percent approval rating of Congress says about its own legitimacy.
Whenever the left faces a setback at SCOTUS, they accuse the justices, who have a long history of consistent judicial philosophy, of corruption. When conservatives lose, the media acts surprised that the court didn’t act in a reflexively partisan manner. This is just another example of the left projecting their own behavior onto others.
The left’s poor record in front of the court, which dates back to Obama’s historic string of losses, is not due to a corrupt SCOTUS, but rather because their vision of governance clashes with the Constitution. If the left fails to dismantle the court, it is likely that blue states will start disregarding its decisions.
For now, SCOTUS remains one of the last defenses against lawlessness and irrationality.

How has the recent unanimous decision by the Supreme Court regarding the removal of Donald Trump from state ballots sparked controversy among left-wing individuals?
The recent unanimous decision by the Supreme Court regarding the removal of Donald Trump from state ballots has sparked controversy and disagreement among left-wing individuals. The ruling states that states cannot use the 14th Amendment to remove Trump based on his alleged actions on January 6, 2021.
For many left-wingers who firmly believed in the narrative that Trump led an insurrectionist coup, this decision comes as a shock. They viewed any legal action taken against him as morally justified and legally sound. Last week, progressives were furious when the Supreme Court failed to expedite Trump’s immunity claims to align with Joe Biden’s campaign schedule.
However, the deeper issue lies in the left’s struggle to grasp the concept of neutrality in law or principle. The Associated Press mischaracterized the court’s decision as ”restoring Trump to the ballot” and rejecting state attempts to hold him accountable for the attack on the Capitol. This misrepresentation fails to capture the true nature of the ruling, which focused on a constitutional question, while Colorado’s attempt to hold Trump accountable for “insurrection” remains highly debatable.

While the court may not get every case right, it consistently operates within normal boundaries. The weakness of the Colorado ballot case was evident when even Sonia Sotomayor, a usually firm supporter of the Democrats, could not support their stance. Without the originalist justices appointed by Trump, workers would still be forced to pay dues for causes they don’t support, and Americans could lose their businesses over thought crimes. This court has also protected the rights to self-defense, free expression, and ensured that schools cannot discriminate based on race.
The significance of the Supreme Court’s role in our government cannot be overstated. It serves as a vital check and balance, upholding the Constitution and maintaining the integrity of our democracy. While disagreements will inevitably arise, it is important to respect and acknowledge the impartiality and constitutional mandate of the court.
