The Swamp Retaliates Against House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good
The 5th Congressional District of Virginia, historically linked to figures like James Madison and Thomas Jefferson, is currently represented by Rep. Bob Good, a major critic of what he calls “the Swamp” in Washington D.C. Good, who is the newly elected chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, has followed leaders like Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows. His tenure is marked by stringent opposition to several policies and deals, including the debt limit deal and continuing resolutions that he claims continue excessive spending and radical policies from previous administrations.
Good’s outspoken stances include refusing additional funding for Ukraine without securing U.S. borders first, resisting President Biden’s policies on energy, parental rights, religious liberties, gun control, and abortion. His opposition also extends to laws that would allow federal surveillance on Americans. These strong conservative positions have earned him a 100% rating from several conservative and liberty-minded groups, identifying him as a staunch defender of conservative values. As the chairman of the Freedom Caucus, he is recognized for holding fellow Republicans accountable and resisting pressure from establishment politicians and lobbyists, including challenges against former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. His actions reflect his commitment to the promises made to his constituents and maintaining a strong conservative stance in Congress.
The 5th Congressional District of Virginia is under siege from the Swamp. This district is a historic bastion of liberty. It was first represented in Congress by the “father of our Constitution” and fourth President of the United States, James Madison. It was also the historical home of Thomas Jefferson, the drafter of the Declaration of Independence and the third president of the United States. Today, the 5th District is represented by another American patriot.
Rep. Bob Good is not yet a household name, but you had better believe he’s the Swamp’s worst nightmare. As the newly elected chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, Good is following in the footsteps of Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows, Andy Biggs, and Scott Perry.
Good’s voting record is exemplary. Chairman Good vocally opposed the debt limit deal that gave Washington a two-year blank check to add as much as $4 trillion to our debt. Good opposed the continuing resolutions that rubber-stamped Nancy Pelosi’s spending levels and radical policies.
Good said we should not give a penny more in funding to Ukraine without first securing our own borders. Good fought against Biden’s radical policies on energy, parents rights, religious liberties, gun control, and abortion on demand. And Good opposed reauthorizing federal agents to spy on Americans. These positions did not make him friends in D.C., but they were the right stances and the ones the people he serves in Virginia wanted him to take.
His voting record is reflected in his 100 percent rating from every conservative, liberty-minded, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and pro-family organization. Few other members of the House can match his conservative bona fides, and you will find no one with a better record than Bob Good in Washington.
The Freedom Caucus is the conscience of the Republican Party in the House of Representatives. This group of courageous patriots hold fellow Republicans accountable to keep the promises they made to voters. No one is more outspoken than Chairman Good.
As you can imagine, many establishment Republicans do not like being held accountable for their votes. Nor do lobbyists and special interests like it when business as usual in the Swamp is threatened by Republicans who are intent on keeping their campaign promises.
No one is more a creature of Washington than former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. When Good joined seven other House Republicans to remove him from office for breaking promise after promise to his colleagues and the American people, McCarthy and his allies began plotting their revenge.
Not long after his removal from the speaker’s office, McCarthy’s allies identified an ambitious and newly elected Virginia state senator and promised him millions of dollars in outside support to run against Chairman Good. Once the Swamp had an opponent who filed for the seat, lobbyists in Washington and mega-donors from New York and California began pouring millions of dollars of negative advertising into the race, turning it into the most expensive and nastiest congressional primary of 2024.
The goal of McCarthy’s revenge tour is clear. First, destroy a man they feel was responsible for ending McCarthy’s speakership. Second, send a message to the House Freedom Caucus that if they continue to speak up for you, they can be taken down by the Swamp’s political machine.
We cannot let this happen. The conservative movement needs the Freedom Caucus at the tip of the spear to fight for us. We need proven warriors like Bob Good who are not afraid to stand up and be counted on in the face of enormous political pressure from the Swamp. Donald Trump will need these freedom fighters to have his back when he returns to the White House in January 2025.
