Demonizing Poor White Americans without reservation
Awakening the Ignorance: The Destructive Power of Identity Politics
When it comes to “identity politics,” the focus is often on its immorality and destructive nature. Judging people based on uncontrollable characteristics is undeniably wrong. However, there is a lesser-known consequence of identity politics that leaves its believers, like the daytime anchors of MSNBC, completely bewildered by major political events. It actually makes them significantly dumber; there’s no other way to put it.
Let’s take the election of Donald Trump in 2016 as an example. By now, most of us understand why it happened. Trump’s message resonated with millions of Americans, regardless of his identity. Yet, MSNBC still seems unsure about why he won and why he continues to lead in polls. This video clip perfectly illustrates their confusion:
The premise of this intro assumes that Joe Biden should dominate the vote among white rural voters because of his background. This is how MSNBC anchors and their viewers see the world. They vote based on identity, disregarding candidates’ actual actions and messages. They fail to acknowledge Biden’s ties to banks, his multiple mansions, and his questionable policies. All they can process is the candidates’ predetermined “identities.”

The problem with this level of ignorance is that a critical mass of Americans now subscribes to it. The Left has two options: renounce identity politics and engage in meaningful debates, or double down on identity politics and declare war against identities they perceive as enemies.
As the MSNBC segment continues, it becomes clear which option they choose. Mika Brzezinski introduces two authors who wrote a book titled “White Rural Rage: The Threat to American Democracy.” Watch as they describe the supposed threat posed by “white rural voters”:
We show 30 polls and national studies, and we provide the receipts in Chapter 6.
These authors claim to have evidence that white rural voters are a threat to the country. They label them as the most conspiracist group, citing QAnon support and COVID denialism. However, they conveniently fail to define these terms in the interview. So, I dug into their book and found that their definition of QAnon support is simply believing that COVID-19 was human-made in a foreign lab. This theory, which the FBI Director himself considers plausible, is hardly a reason to demonize an entire demographic. The authors’ attempt to paint these voters as a threat to democracy is nothing more than a distortion of reality.
The authors also dismiss any concerns about the integrity of the 2020 election as conspiracy theories. They ignore the valid issues surrounding mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting, and Biden’s unprecedented number of votes. This MSNBC segment is filled with one absurdity after another, all aimed at vilifying white, poor, predominantly Christian voters who simply choose not to support Joe Biden.
But it doesn’t stop there. The interview takes a disturbing turn when the guest accuses poor white voters of being enemies of freedom of speech. This accusation conveniently ignores the attacks on free speech happening across various power centers and universities. The hypocrisy is astounding.
The lies and disdain for poor white Americans continue throughout the interview. The authors claim that poor white voters want the president to act unilaterally, ignoring the numerous instances of unilateral actions by previous administrations. They also accuse these voters of excusing or justifying violence, conveniently ignoring the violence and destruction witnessed during the George Floyd riots.
The interview concludes with a shocking statement that discounts the struggles and challenges faced by poor white people. It’s a clear display of the corporate press and mainstream Left’s disdain for white Americans. The question arises: why did the authors go to such lengths to lie about a specific racial demographic? And why did a major media conglomerate like MSNBC choose to promote these lies and racial disdain?

The truth is that they’re dehumanizing and villainizing a class they see as undesirable. The mainstream media has always harbored a dislike for poor whites, but now they’re almost openly expressing it. This MSNBC segment is a clear declaration that the Left now embraces the unabashed hatred of poor white Americans. It’s a dangerous path that leads to racial resentment and violence. They’re not afraid of poor white voters; they’re afraid that someone in power might actually listen to what these marginalized individuals have to say.
This is evident when comparing the treatment of poor white people to other racial demographics. No publisher would ever sell a book titled “Black Ghetto Rage.” Instead, they often excuse black crime and violence as a symptom of “late stage capitalism.” The media’s double standards are glaring.
It’s time to recognize the destructive power of identity politics and the dangerous path it leads us down. We must reject the demonization of any racial or socioeconomic group and focus on engaging in meaningful debates and discussions.
What are the consequences of reducing individuals to their immutable characteristics and engaging in surface-level identifications instead of discussing ideas, policies, and solutions
Assert that these voters do not care about policies that benefit them economically, brushing off the legitimate concerns and struggles faced by a significant portion of the American population.
This MSNBC segment serves as a prime example of the destructive power of identity politics. It perpetuates division, demonizes certain groups based on their identity, and dismisses valid concerns and perspectives. It is no wonder that those who subscribe to identity politics are bewildered by major political events; they are blinded by their own biases and fail to see the full picture.
Identity politics has no place in a society that seeks to foster unity, understanding, and meaningful dialogue. When we reduce individuals to their immutable characteristics, we undermine their agency and the potential for real progress. Instead of engaging in discussions about ideas, policies, and solutions, we get caught up in surface-level identifications that only serve to further entrench divisions and hinder social cohesion.
It is time to awaken from the ignorance of identity politics. We must acknowledge the complexity of individuals and recognize that their worth and relevance lie in their ideas, actions, and contributions to society. By moving away from identity politics and embracing a more inclusive and open-minded approach, we can truly engage in meaningful debates, bridge gaps, and work towards a better future for all.
