The View hosts argue Fox News not a news network due to Trump coverage.

The Fall of Fox News: Is Donald Trump to Blame?

The View hosts recently engaged in a lively discussion about what they believe is the decline of Fox News, attributing it to the network’s coverage of Donald Trump. The segment kicked off with intriguing musings about Rupert Murdoch, the CEO of Fox News’ parent company, News Corporation. Rumor has it that Murdoch is considering supporting a different candidate in their coverage, apart from Trump. However, Joy Behar pointed out that it might be too late for the company to change course, as they have already been “following him over a cliff.”

“They can’t call it Fox News. It is not a legitimate news network,” chimed in Sunny Hostin. “Fox entertainment television, I mean.”

Whoopi Goldberg then reminded Hostin that there is already a Fox Entertainment network in existence.

Later in the discussion, Behar confronted Alyssa Farah Griffin, a frequent guest on Fox News, particularly on January 7, 2021. Griffin, being the token Republican among the hosts, was asked by Behar if she believed that Trump had completely destroyed the Republican Party with the help of Murdoch. Griffin agreed, stating, “I think those who empowered him in the media played a big role in it.”

Fox News has recently undergone a shake-up in its cast, with the firing of Tucker Carlson in April and the removal of Geraldo Rivera from The Five earlier this month, which ultimately led to his resignation.

Interestingly, Fox News briefly lost its top spot in the ratings to MSNBC in June, marking the first time in 120 weeks that Fox had been surpassed. However, even during that week, Fox News saw a significant increase of 10.9% in viewership. The following week, Fox News regained its viewership during the prime-time slot of 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., while MSNBC lost viewers and its No. 1 position, according to Nielsen ratings.
