The viral video does not depict motorcyclists heading to the RNC
The summary discusses a viral video shared on social media that falsely claims to show a group of motorcyclists en route to Milwaukee during the 2024 Republican National Convention. The video actually dates back to 2015 and shows the Mongols Motorcycle Club heading to Nevada. The claim was debunked by fact-checkers and news outlets like Reuters, who confirmed the video’s original context. The Republican National Convention did not share the video on its website or official social media channels.

Verdict: False
The claim is false. The original video, shared via YouTube in 2015, shows the Mongols Motorcycle Club en route to Nevada.
Fact Check:
A man was recently arrested near an RNC security zone for “concealing a firearm in a ‘tactical’ backpack,” according to police, NBC News reported. Police said the man “did not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon,” the outlet indicated.
The X video, which has been viewed over two million times as of writing, purports to show a group of motorcyclists en route to Milwaukee, Wisconsin amid the 2024 RNC. “So, it appears that real security is headed to Milwaukee #J13 #RNCConvention,” the post’s caption reads. The video bears a label that suggests it was also shared on TikTok.
The claim is false, however. The original video, shared via YouTube in 2015, shows the Mongols Motorcycle Club en route to Nevada. The video’s description indicates 500 motorcyclists took the east freeway to Laughlin, Nevada.
Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find the video referenced in any recent credible news reports about the 2024 RNC. In fact, the opposite is true. On July 17, Reuters reported the video pre-dated the current convention and showed the motorcyclists en route to Nevada in 2015.
Additionally, the RNC has neither shared the video via its website nor its verified social media accounts. The clip also cannot be found on 2024 Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump’s website nor his TRUTH Social account.
Furthermore, although the X video included a TikTok label bearing the handle @aredotjay, Check Your Fact did not find the clip posted to the social media user’s profile. (RELATED: Did Trump Golf The Day After He Was Shot?)
This year’s RNC follows a shooting that occurred at a Trump campaign rally on July 13 in Butler, PA, where one person died and two others were wounded.
Check Your Fact has contacted the RNC for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
