Biden Defends Pro-Palestinian Heckler During Pause in Everytown Gun Control Speech: ‘They Make a Fair Point
During a speech at a gun control event hosted by Everytown’s Gun Sense University in Washington, D.C., President Joe Biden addressed a protestor who interrupted him by accusing him of being complicit in genocide due to his support for Israel amid its conflict with Hamas. This incident occurred simultaneously on the day Biden’s son, Hunter, was convicted on gun-related charges, an ironic twist given the context of the gun control conference. President Joe Biden paused his pro-gun control speech on Tuesday to defend a pro-Palestinian protester who interrupted the event and heckled the president, saying he was “complicit in genocide” for continuing to support Israel in its war against Hamas terrorists.
Biden was speaking in Washington, D.C., at gun control advocacy group Everytown’s Gun Sense University — an annual gun violence prevention conference — on the same day that his embattled son Hunter Biden was convicted on gun-related charges, a fact that some noted might be awkward.

“I know what that feels [like],” Biden tried to empathize with families who had been impacted by gun violence. “That black hole when you receive that phone call, it seems like a black hole in your chest. You’re being sucked into it. Just showing up here and all the work you’ve done takes some courage because it reminds you of the moment you got that phone call … It’s hard, but you’re making such a difference. The main reason I’m here to say, I mean it in the bottom of my heart.”
A woman interrupted him then, shouting, “You are complicit in genocide!”
Security quickly moved to escort the woman away, but Biden shouted after them, “No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no … Folks. Folks. It’s okay. They care. Innocent children have been lost. They make a fair point.”
