‘They Turned Abortion Into A Pagan Idol’: New York Courthouse Installs Statue Symbolizing Abortion And RBG

In the state court building New York City A new art project was unveiled that is not doing well online.

The sculpture was entitled “NOW,” The statue was placed on top of the Appellate Division Courthouse, New York State, First Department on Madison Avenue as part of an artist exhibit by Shahzia Sikander. Although the statue is supposed to be representative of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s legacy, New Yorkers and others on Twitter noted that the statue is both disturbing and ugly.

Andrew Beck, a corporate consultant, shared photos of the art installation via a Twitter thread. “A new statue atop a New York City courthouse,” He wrote. “The artist says it’s part of an ‘urgent and necessary cultural reckoning underway as New York reconsiders traditional representations of power in public spaces and recasts civic structures to better reflect 21st-century social mores.’”

The court building’s roof is covered with statues of historical and legendary lawgivers. It is located in the corner of the court building. The statue stands out against the weathered stones statues to its right. It depicts a woman with hair braided into long spirals like ram’s horns, and a web of tentacle-like protrusions at each arm, wearing a lace apron like the one Ginsburg wore over her robe, and standing on a pink lotus flower.

Profile of the statue by The New York Times It is believed that the statue represents the first female figure to be placed on the court building. “She [the statue] is a fierce woman and a form of resistance in a space that has historically been dominated by patriarchal representation,” Sikander said so to The New York Times. Sikander claimed that she entitled the piece “NOW” Because it is necessary in this year, when abortion rights have been challenged following the Supreme Court’s return of abortion law to the States in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

Sikander also has another piece in the same area with similar designs. This statue, which is 18 feet tall, depicts the same figure but has a metal cage that symbolises a hoop skirt. “Witness” It is situated in Madison Square Park directly opposite the court building. Together, the two statues are called “Havah…to breathe, air, life.”

“Struggle is a never ending process. Freedom is never really won. You earn it and win it in every generation.” Coretta Scott King’s never-fading words. Twitter users quickly pointed out that the sculpture idolized Abortion and featured pagan or demonic motifs.

“They turned abortion into a pagan idol to worship and put it on a courthouse,” Billy GribbinRich McCormick’s communications director, posted the following tweet:

“The New York Courthouse has added this aesthetic atrocity to its sculptures of great lawmakers,” Daily Wire Podcast host Andrew Klavan wrote. “It is meant to honor Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s pro-abortion stance by depicting a woman with demonic goat-horns who has clearly lost the power to reproduce. Or something.”

“The next Republican mayor of New York should not only remove but publicly destroy this monstrosity,” Daily Wire host Michael Knowles added.

“New York has put an androgynous baphomet with tentacles digging into its own torso on top of the courthouse in order to ‘better reflect 21st century social mores.’” Author Brandon Meeks said. “Sounds about right.”

“[T]he ugliness is the point,” American Firebrand’s digital director for New Founding and American Firebrand Logan Hall added.

“What a visual desecration of the landscape,” America First Legal Foundation founder Stephen Miller tweeted.

“WOW the baphomet/Aries symbolism is… a lot,” One Twitter user made a comment. “Especially given the opposite or sister sign Libra represents the scales of balance or ‘arms’ of Justice.”
