Decolonization: A Call for Violence and Extremism
For nearly a month now, college campuses across the country have been echoing with the dangerous mantra of “decolonization,” which essentially translates to “kill whitey.” The Left has always harbored this sinister agenda, as I previously highlighted. However, after the recent Hamas attack on Israel, activist groups have become more explicit in their desire for similar acts of violence to occur in the United States. They dehumanize their enemies and advocate for their extermination.
While the establishment Left initially refrained from directly endorsing these calls for violence, that changed when Salon, an online outlet considered mainstream among Leftists, published an op-ed by journalist Brian Karem. In this op-ed, Karem shamelessly justifies the murder of conservatives, particularly conservative Christians, with the title “MAGA and Christian nationalism: Bigger threat to America than Hamas could ever be.”
This article quickly went viral, even catching the attention of Elon Musk, and sparked widespread outrage. However, what many fail to realize is that this op-ed is just the latest in a series of pieces by Brian Karem in Salon that label conservatives as terrorists. Just a month ago, Karem wrote an article titled “Hamas and the GOP are both terrorist groups — it’s just a matter of degree.”
In that previous article, Karem boldly claimed that there is little to no difference between the GOP leadership and the leaders of Hamas. He accused both groups of engaging in atrocities, lying, and using human beings as hostages. He even went as far as to label Donald Trump and his followers as terrorists.

As outrageous as Karem’s previous op-ed was, it largely went unnoticed. However, this time, Karem rehashed the same arguments with even more fervor. Before delving further into Karem’s unhinged rants, it’s crucial to highlight a couple of important points.
Firstly, Karem is not an intern or a random troll; he is a former senior White House Correspondent for Playboy and a credentialed member of the White House press pool. This position used to hold prestige and require adherence to journalistic standards. However, in today’s world, Karem can freely publish op-eds that advocate for the murder of his political opponents while retaining his White House press credentials.
Secondly, Karem is not alone in his extreme views. Salon’s editorial team approved and published his pieces, and the Democratic Party’s leaders have been demonizing their political opponents for years in similar ways.
Just a year ago, Joe Biden practically declared war on “MAGA Republicans,” labeling them a threat to democracy simply for disagreeing with him. This kind of rhetoric was prevalent throughout the past year. Various outlets, including The Daily Beast, labeled me a “stochastic terrorist” and used the same term to describe others. This term carries dangerous implications, as it implies that terrorists should be killed, and it is frequently used to target conservatives.
However, Karem’s Salon piece stands out for its blatant and flagrant nature. He begins the article by accusing the House of Representatives, particularly Mike Johnson, of ushering in an apocalyptic theocracy reminiscent of the Inquisition. Yet, there is no evidence to support these claims. Johnson’s views align with his Christian faith, and while one may disagree with them, they are not indicative of a theocratic regime.
Karem’s piece fails to address any of these facts. Instead, he goes on a manic rant, touching on topics ranging from Israel’s actions in Gaza to artificial intelligence and climate change. He paints a bleak picture of our world, conveniently ignoring the reality that the majority of mass shootings he references occur in predominantly black neighborhoods.
Even if we were to accept Karem’s baseless claims that MAGA Republicans are responsible for all mass shootings, it still wouldn’t support his thesis that conservatives are a more significant threat to America than Hamas. The vast majority of Christians in this country do not support violence or the murder of nonbelievers. In contrast, Hamas openly calls for genocide and the murder of non-Muslims, including Jews.
Karem and his editors, as well as the rest of the media, are well aware of these facts. However, they choose not to condemn his dangerous rhetoric because they understand the underlying message. Karem, like Joe Biden before him, is not merely advocating for the defeat or censorship of his political opponents. He wants to dehumanize them, criminalize them, and ultimately see them eliminated.
