Tiana Lowe Doescher criticizes the ‘tone’ established by Democratic lawmakers
In a recent commentary for the Washington Examiner, Tiana Lowe Doescher criticized Democratic lawmakers for not moderating their political rhetoric. She highlighted recent incidents of vandalism against Tesla vehicles, which have largely gone unaddressed by the Democratic Party, except for a few lawmakers like Rep. Ro Khanna and Sen. Mark Kelly. Lowe Doescher stressed the responsibility of lawmakers to set a constructive tone in political discourse and to speak out against violence and extremism. She pointed out that representative Jasmine Crockett made controversial remarks about fellow lawmakers, including mocking Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s disability. This incident raises concerns about the implications of political language and the need for elected officials to be mindful of their words, especially in politically charged environments.
Tiana Lowe Doescher slams the ‘tone’ set by Democratic lawmakers
Washington Examiner commentary writer Tiana Lowe Doescher condemned Democratic lawmakers for refusing to “dial down the temperature” of their recent political rhetoric.
As protesters vandalize Tesla vehicles and dealerships, only two Democratic lawmakers have spoken out against the crimes against Tesla. They include Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), whose district includes a Tesla manufacturing plant, and Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), who until recently owned two Tesla vehicles but sold them over a spat with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Many other lawmakers continue to criticize Musk.
“You set the tone,” Lowe Doescher said Wednesday on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria Bartiromo. “You can set the tone. You can dial down the temperature. As a lawmaker, it is incumbent on you to police your own side.”
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has also gone after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and suggested he be “knocked over the head.” When it came to Musk, Crockett said earlier this month that she wanted to see Musk “taken down” for her birthday.
The representative’s most recent slipup came over the weekend. During an appearance at a Human Rights Campaign fundraising event in Los Angeles, she mocked Gov. Greg Abbott‘s (R-TX) disability by giving him the nickname “Governor Hot Wheels.”
“Crucially, everyone at home needs to look behind Crockett, where she is, Human Rights Campaign Gala,” Lowe Doescher pointed out. “She’s criticizing a man in a wheelchair.”

The fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign went toward the civil rights organization’s mission for the LGBT community. According to the HRC, 36% of the community suffers some sort of disability, including 10% who suffer a mobility disability.
The HRC did not respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.
