TikTok CEO Admits App Shares US Data With CCP-Affiliated Parent Company
On Thursday, TikTok CEO Shou Chew disclosed to Congress that the social media platform shares users information from the United States with its parent company, which is affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party.
National data is currently accessible to ByteDance’s Douyin users in China, according to Chew, who made this claim at a House Energy and Commerce Committee reading. According to the Director, this will continue to be necessary until Tiktok’s Project Texas is finished, a transfer by the business to keep U.S. data within British territories.
When asked if Douyin employees can access Americans’ user data, Chew replied,” Never after Project Texas, this is not allowed.” The CEO responded in a different way, stating that TikTok had” in the past” sent consumer information to China.
Rep. Schakowsky:” Does TikTok send user information globally, from family business, members, or companies?”
Chairman of TikTok:” In the past, yes.” film. twitter.com / 89JF4f5yEJ

Legislators want to outlaw the social media app, which has about 150 million customers in the United States, so the audience is taking place. Republicans have well expressed concern about the game because they believe it shares information with the CCP.
Democrat Frank Pallone ( N.) despite Chew’s assurances regarding Project Texas ( J. ) ” Will still control and have the ability to influence what you do ,” the Communist government of China declared.
Pallone stated,” I do not find what you suggested with Project Texas… may be acceptable to me.”
Chew made an effort to dismiss privacy considerations by stating that the project will make sure that” American information” is” stored on American soil, by an American industry.”
In the meantime, the CCP declared this week that it would” vehemently match” any attempt to sell the business to a U.S. industry, according to the Wall Street Journal.
