Tim Graham: DeSantis Faces CNN Smears of Racism in Education
Anyone who watches leftist cable news channels understands that it’s fair commentary for Republicans to be categorized individually or collectively. “white nationalists” Oder “white supremacists.” Everyone who stands in the way the Black Lives Matter/critical Race Theory crusade gets the Racist card.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis won a political victory by urging the College Board to reduce their Advanced Placement curriculum “African American Studies.” Every conservative has seen firsthand that you can’t place a person without their permission. “studies” in front of a minority group — black studies, queer studies, Native American studies, women’s studies — you can expect a highly ideological journey.
DeSantis was bold enough to challenge the Left. He is derided by the media, particularly the younger contingent who are most passionate. “woke.” Bianna Golodryga, CNN’s anchor, asked Arne Duncan, former Obama education secretary for his opinion on DeSantis objections. She got predictable results.
Duncan began: “Unfortunately, you know, Governor DeSantis has been very, very clear he has what appears to be a white nationalist agenda.” Duncan did not provide any evidence to support his inflammatory smear. Golodryga also didn’t request it.
Duncan wasn’t done. “And what I hate most is he just always attacks the most vulnerable, whether it’s the AP African-American history, whether it’s the LGBTQ community, whether it’s immigrants, he always attacks the most vulnerable.” He stated that he hoped voters would vote for him. “don’t think that is what our country needs — is more bullying, more attacking on those that need our help and our support.”
Democrats act as if their constituents are their only concern “vulnerable,” And cannot be plausibly questioned or criticized for anything, because that’s the only way to know. “bullying.” Their supporters cannot be too radical, cynical and hateful. If you are black, gay, or an immigrant and criticize Democrats, it’s clearly different. If you do this, you are a traitor in your community.
The Big Lie — to borrow from daily CNN lingo — is that Republicans object to teaching slavery or segregation in American history classes, or as Duncan claimed, they want to “hide the tough parts.” Instead, objections focus on contemporary propaganda “intersectionality and activism,” “incarceration and abolition (of prisons),” Black Lives Matter is being promoted and endorsed.
Later, CNN host Laura Coates spoke out about the need “to clarify and fact-check what has been said,” Robert Patterson, who is a Georgetown University professor of African American Studies, was brought in. He said that DeSantis & Co. were soaking up white supremacy. “What this course is doing is challenging white supremacy, is challenging anti-Black racism, and quite frankly, that seems to be part of the issue that the state of Florida has taken with the course.”
CNN did not tell viewers about this radical professor. Patterson extolled Black Lives Matters in 2020 in an academic journal. “rejection of capitalism as a broader critique of neoliberalism’s forceful role in maintaining black dispossession” Offers “a framework through which to enact short-term change, while pushing to dismantle the larger system of antiblack racism that is refracted through global capitalism.”
Patterson works at a “Catholic” college, and he also praised BLM for their “concurrent attack against intraracial sexism, heterosexism, and transphobia,” As “BLM deprivileges heteronormativity to show that black freedom dreams must include gender and sexual liberation.” Let’s assume Patterson was completely in favor of the AP course, before DeSantis objected. You can see how fervently Patterson would try to brainwash high schools students.
Ron DeSantis won 59% of the vote to re-elect himself, but CNN’s left-wing guests and CNN want to make it seem like he’s the one. “outside the mainstream.”
