Tim Sheehy claims Schumer-linked PAC is attempting to divert attention from Tester’s track record: ‘They’ll fail against me
Republican Candidate Accuses Democrats of Distracting Voters
Tim Sheehy, a Republican candidate running for Sen. Jon Tester’s (D-MT) seat, is calling out Democrats for their big spending on campaign ads against him. According to Sheehy, these tactics are diverting attention away from Tester’s record and will ultimately lead to their defeat.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Sheehy stated, “The Democrats in Montana know that, on the issues, Jon Tester loses across the board. Immigration, economy, energy. It’s no question Jon Tester is a rubber stamp for all of Joe Biden’s policies, and if he runs on the issues, they’re going to lose to me. And they know that.”
One of the groups spending heavily on attack ads against Sheehy is the Last Best Place PAC, which has already spent $5.7 million on broadcast and cable ads. This PAC is aligned with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
As a Navy SEAL veteran, Sheehy believes that the Democrats are trying to distract voters from important topics like immigration and the economy, which are crucial in the upcoming 2024 election. Montana has become a Republican stronghold, and Tester is the only Democrat holding statewide office.
Sheehy expressed his frustration, saying, “They’re trying to make this race not about the issues. They’re trying to confuse the Montana voters and obfuscate what Tester really stands for. If they have to talk about Jon Tester’s voting record, they lose. One million dollars a week they’re going to spend trying to attack my character, my family, my businesses because they have to distract Montana voters from Jon Tester’s record.”
Last Best Place PAC received $2.1 million in funding during the fourth quarter of 2023, with support from Majority Forward, which is linked to Senate Majority PAC — the main super PAC for Senate Democrats.
In response to Sheehy’s accusations, the Senate Majority PAC criticized the GOP candidate’s “shady ties.” According to spokeswoman Sarah Guggenheimer, “Tim Sheehy may think it’s a ‘distraction’ for Montanans to learn that he has shady ties to China, did business in the Caymans, and built his company off government contracts, but voters certainly don’t. And while Mitch McConnell’s prized candidate spends his time whining about Montanans learning the truth, Jon Tester continues to put hardworking families in his state first — just like he has his entire career.”

Why does Sheehy believe that attack ads are disrespectful to voters in Montana?
R liberal policies. So instead of focusing on his record, they are pouring millions of dollars into attack ads against me. It’s a desperate attempt to distract voters from Tester’s failures.”
Sheehy’s accusations come as no surprise, as attack ads are a common strategy used in political campaigns to discredit opponents and sway public opinion. However, Sheehy believes that these tactics are not only deceptive but also disrespectful to the voters.
“Montanans deserve a fair and honest election,” Sheehy declared. “They deserve a discussion on the real issues that affect their daily lives. Instead, Democrats are resorting to character assassination and fearmongering.” Sheehy called on his Democratic opponents to engage in a substantive debate about the issues that matter most to the people of Montana.
One of the main issues Sheehy claims Democrats are avoiding is immigration. According to him, Tester’s record on immigration is weak and does not align with the views of the majority of Montanans. Sheehy argues for stricter borders and tougher immigration policies, which he believes are necessary to protect national security and the economy. However, instead of addressing this issue, Democrats are painting Sheehy as a hardliner and trying to associate him with extreme anti-immigration views.
Another topic Sheehy believes Democrats are evading is the economy. He argues that Tester’s support for excessive regulation and higher taxes is detrimental to businesses and job creation. Sheehy positions himself as a proponent of free market principles and claims that his economic policies will foster growth and prosperity for all Montanans. Yet, instead of debating the merits of these policies, Democrats are focusing their efforts on attacking Sheehy’s character and personal background.
Energy is yet another area where Sheehy feels Democrats are diverting attention. He strongly disagrees with Tester’s support for renewable energy and believes that a reliance on fossil fuels is essential for the state’s economy and energy independence. Sheehy argues that Montana has abundant natural resources that can be harnessed to provide affordable and reliable energy while creating jobs. However, Democrats are portraying him as anti-environment and unconcerned about the future of renewable energy.
Despite the Democrats’ attempts to distract voters, Sheehy remains confident in his message and believes that Montanans will see through the diversion. He states, “The people of Montana are smart. They understand that these attack ads are just smoke and mirrors. What they really want is a candidate who will fight for their interests, someone who will listen and respond to their needs.”
As the election date approaches, it is crucial for voters to be aware of the strategies and tactics employed by both parties. It is essential to look past the attack ads and focus on the policies and records of the candidates. Ultimately, the voters’ decision will shape the future of Montana and its representation in the Senate.
