Former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Tebow, the wife of former football star Tim Tebow, said she has found a new purpose in life after passing on her Miss Universe crown, combatting human trafficking.

Tebow, who just released a new book titled A Crown That Lasts: You Are Not Your Label, detailed how she survived a carjacking shortly after winning Miss South Africa in 2017, during which the only person who would help her was a 19-year-old woman who was driving a run-down car. She explained that this life event, and the good Samaritan who helped her in the moment, played a role in pushing her to want to combat human trafficking.

After being crowned Miss Universe in 2017, she gave up her crown to the next winner the following year, after which she wanted to pursue a new goal in her life.

“Not everyone wore a crown like I did, but at some point in our lives, I think it’s fair to say that we have rooted our identity and our worth in something that didn’t last, something that was temporary, and that was that moment for me, handing back that crown,” Tebow said on Fox News’s One Nation with Brian Kilmeade.

Since marrying Tim Tebow in 2020, the two have pursued “a shared purpose” in fighting human trafficking, which he was involved in before he met his future wife. Tebow’s non-profit dedicated to fighting human trafficking was established in 2010, and she described being able to fight this issue with her husband as “one of the greatest honors of my life.”

Tim Tebow also made an appearance on the show to promote both his wife’s new book and his non-profit organization’s newest initiative, the Unknown & Unfinished campaign. Tebow explained how law enforcement is unable to identify child victims in human trafficking, on which this campaign seeks to shed a light.

“We’re fortunate to serve in a lot of areas around the world, but that is such a focus for us right now, is bringing faith, hope, and love to these boys and girls in their darkest hour of need,” Tebow said.

Demi-Leigh Tebow’s book was published on Tuesday, in which the former Miss Universe winner advocates for the need to serve God and others.
