Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk’s Cage Match Unlikely to Happen, Says Meta CEO

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently stated that the highly ⁣anticipated cage match between​ himself and Tesla CEO Elon Musk is unlikely to ⁢take place. According to Zuckerberg, Musk doesn’t seem to be taking the challenge seriously.

The rivalry between the two ⁤tech moguls began ⁣in late June when Musk tweeted that he was “up for a cage fight.” Zuckerberg quickly responded, expressing his interest ⁤and requesting‌ a location for the match.

Although the⁢ date of the cage match has yet to be announced, Musk ​has mentioned that​ a live-stream of the ‌event will be hosted on⁣ Twitter, the social media platform he recently rebranded as “X,” and Meta.

Despite⁤ Zuckerberg’s efforts to set a date for the fight and UFC ‌President Dana White’s agreement to ‍make it⁢ official and ‌donate the proceeds to charity, Musk has been uncooperative.⁤ Zuckerberg expressed his frustration, stating that Musk won’t confirm a date,​ claims to need surgery,⁢ and now wants to do a practice round in his backyard instead.

Zuckerberg took to his social media site, Threads, to‍ address the situation, saying, “I ⁤think we⁣ can all⁢ agree Elon ​isn’t serious, and‌ it’s time ⁤to move on.” He added, “If Elon⁣ ever gets serious⁤ about ​a real⁢ date ⁤and official event, he knows how to reach me. ⁤Otherwise, time to⁤ move on. I’m⁤ going ‍to focus⁢ on competing ​with people who take the sport seriously.”

Musk, who is also the founder of SpaceX, has not responded to ⁤Zuckerberg’s comments. ⁣He previously ​mentioned that‍ he⁢ underwent an MRI on⁤ his​ right shoulder blade, which⁣ requires ‌minor surgery. However, he assured that his recovery⁢ would only take a few months.

Musk also revealed that the fight would take‌ place in an “epic ‍location”‍ in Italy, ‌with Italian Prime ⁢Minister ​Giorgia Meloni agreeing to​ the venue. He ‌proposed that the fight ⁢be organized by the foundations of​ both competitors,​ with all proceeds ‍going ‍to⁣ Italy’s ‌veterans ‍and ​pediatric hospitals.

In response, Zuckerberg questioned the choice⁢ of ‌platform for ‍organizing the fight, suggesting the ⁢use of⁤ a more reliable platform⁣ that can raise money for charity.

It’s worth noting ⁣that Zuckerberg is trained in mixed⁤ martial arts ⁢and recently participated in‌ a Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament. On the‍ other hand,‌ Musk has shown a preference for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and accepted training from UFC fighter Georges St-Pierre.

The rivalry between Zuckerberg and Musk dates‌ back⁣ to 2016 when Zuckerberg ⁢expressed disappointment over SpaceX’s ⁣failure to launch a ⁣Facebook satellite ‌for internet connectivity in Africa. Despite Musk’s ⁤subsequent apology, the rivalry has only grown⁢ stronger over the years.

UFC President Dana White has‍ described the potential cage match between the two tech billionaires as⁣ the “biggest ⁤fight ever in the history of the world,” predicting that it would break ​all pay-per-view records and raise hundreds of millions of dollars for‍ charity.
