Report: Tina Fey may replace on Saturday Night Live.
Tina Fey Considered to Replace Lorne Michaels as SNL Executive Producer
Tina Fey, the multi-talented actress, comedian, producer, and writer, known for her iconic roles on NBC’s Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, is rumored to be in the running to take over as the executive producer of SNL.
The 78-year-old Lorne Michaels, who has been with the show since its inception in 1975, previously stated that he had “no plans to retire,” despite hinting at his commitment until the show’s 50th anniversary.
Exciting 50th Season Ahead
The upcoming 50th season of this legendary sketch comedy show is set to premiere in the fall of 2024, coinciding with a highly anticipated campaign season.
Fey, a former head writer and Weekend Update co-anchor on SNL, gained widespread acclaim for her unforgettable portrayal of former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin during the 2008 presidential election.
Since then, Fey has ventured into directing, producing, and acting in popular shows and movies like Date Night and Mean Girls. She has even co-hosted the Golden Globes.
Currently, Fey is on a live comedy tour alongside fellow comedian Amy Poehler, which will conclude in January 2024.
The potential change in leadership at SNL has sparked a wave of excitement on social media, with many expressing their support for Fey.
- “30 Rock is one of the funniest shows ever. Maybe SNL can use some ‘newer’ blood as the show has tanked in recent years,” one social media user commented.
- “They have to do something to get the respect and humor back,” another person wrote.
- Another social media user added, “It couldn’t get any worse with her, so there’s that I guess.”
With Fey’s impressive track record and the positive reception from fans, it seems like a potential new era for SNL is on the horizon.
